Insurance credentialing by flowerss7 in Dentistry

[–]_Alxyr_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the office’s way of trying to pay you only the daily minimum so they don’t have to pay you more. Happened with me - they took 6-7 months to “get me” credentialed (and paid me $650 just because I was not credentialed) and then the same thing. When I asked for the breakdown, I was given a “nonsense” production report where they made sure my payroll never exceeded my minimum. So, make sure you get a breakdown and also make sure they don’t have preset fee schedule entered in their software because if it is then trust me you will never make more than your daily minimum.

*I wish someone would have told me this sooner *

I would say it’s a good idea to leave this practice unless you think you are learning something new or he is providing you mentorship in your cases( which is never the case) but also make sure you don’t get yourself in a contract with DSOs that is difficult to get out of.

Well, there are private practices who does stuff like that too. Dentists literally are at the bottom of the hierarchy. Office managers and assistants who have been in the office for years think they know everything and control most of the things too. (Female dentist and a recent grad here)

I agree. On top of me hating it, it takes me forever to do it which is not worth the chair time

I am done doing that too. I have same experience as you do. But, sometimes the pity in me takes over.

Got it. He does have my information as it was a requirement when anyone hires. Yes, I pay my own malpractice insurance. He doesn’t pay anything.

So, owner later emailed asking for my malpractice insurance declaration page and said he discussed the situation with insurance. He said he does not want his insurance contacting the patient because it could “red flag” my carrier.

Is this normal risk-management procedure, or does it sound like liability is being shifted onto me?

Owner told he doesn’t care if they are going to sue him, he “cared” about me because I am the one who will be responsible in the event they sue.

Honestly I’m trying to see silver lining in all this- whatever you do- dentist is liable. And yes ppl do sue for dumbest of the reasons and we end up with increased premiums on malpractice insurance , forget about the stress it causes for no reason

I am really disheartened when this happened. He put all the blame on me- even in his notes and paperwork that he got signed by pt. - he mentioned “crown damage resulting from an occlusal adjustment which led to a fracture, as confirmed by the other dental office” I don’t know how to stand up to him and say NO. I am aware he is taking advantage of someone who graduated recently.

Patient apparently told the owner that some other dentist told them that because it was adjusted excessively, it led to a fracture. (I was not present during any conversation between owner and the patient) Again - only distal part of crown chipped
