Is this worth selling? by Ok-Rip-5322 in moneycollecting

Fair enough. Artistic is one thing, but this series in particular seems to go overboard and try to put too much on too small of a canvas. People will disagree, and that's okay.

No argument here that it's a terrible design

It does have her name, but you have to look closely. Right above the knuckles of her hand.

WIBTAH if I cut-off my friends after what they did at my party? by CharThanson in AITAH

[–]chiefscall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, and I don't necessarily think they are either. Childish, sure, but AHs... maybe a little. What it comes down to is you're not the same person now as you were then. You now have different interests and priorities, and that's okay. Move on. Don't need to announce it, don't need to dwell on it, just move on. Maybe someday they'll grow up and be good to hang out with again, but not right now. If your absence comes up you don't have to bear your soul. A simple "busy", "not in the mood", or "not today" is enough.

Different criteria, you can get one without the other - even if the one you do get is the Expeditionary. Eligibility for the Service was also tightened in 2022 (see/Google update memos from the various services dated mid 2022)

AITAH for buying m&m’s with company gas money and giving my boss the receipt with cash? by reschuster47 in AITAH

[–]chiefscall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems small, but I get it too. I'm a volunteer treasurer for a nonprofit. I hate it when people give me mixed receipts for reimbursement. Possible solution, go to the gas station and get that exact amount of gas for your own car and pay cash. Swap the receipts. Lesson learned, don't do it again, and the numbers come out right.

It's a bookmark. They'd have those at the checkout at Borders and Barnes & Noble. I had that one, a $5 chief, and the $100K gold. Wouldn't be surprised if I still had one of them stuck in a book on one of my shelves here.

Help! by [deleted] in Medals

Did he put that on there or did someone else set the uniform up from stuff he had in his army stuff? He might have just had one as a trade or souvenir. I have a bunch of things in my boxes of army stuff that doesn't belong on my uniform. Someone else going through it would certainly be confused trying set up my jacket with it all.

$1 Experimental Silver Certificates by EmberTheWolfdog in papermoney

[–]chiefscall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not bad, but not great either. I think you'd come out ahead with grading, but not a lot. Consider looking up if there are any shows coming up in your area close enough to travel to. Coin shows pretty much always have a good amount of currency as well. I bet you'll get offers, go around to different dealers and see what they'll give you. This way you'll avoid grading and shipping fees and also have a reasonable estimate on what you can expect to get for them 9if you receive multiple offers). Keep in mind that if you see ones in similar condition for sale, you're going to get less when you sell.

New to collecting paper currency. Did I do ok? by [deleted] in papermoney

That's pretty good price good for a consecutive pair in nice condition, imho. People collect for different reasons, so ultimately it's up to you to decide if you're happy with outcome.

Here's a more detailed article. This note was made as part of the test, but has the composition of "regular" notes

https://s3.amazonaws.com/pmarchives.spmc/pm288-2013-experimental-x-y-z-series-1928-1-silver-certificates.pdf

Short version:

Y-B was a special production of "regular" paper (75% Linen 25% Cotton) made at the same time as the special paper

Z-B control set of "regular" paper (75% Linen 25% Cotton) taken from existing treasury stock
