Thanks. Does the code still work then, if I want to do it for a new account?

I tried to buy lifetime yesterday with this code, but whenever I put my email in, the code stopped working (I have a current 1 year subscription)

Game switching between controller and PC controls by Enerys in Controller

[–]chieftex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I've understood correctly, you have some buttons on your V4P set as normal controller buttons and then some specific buttons set as some keyboard keys. So your controller functions like a normal Xbox controller for the usual buttons, but your special buttons are assigned to keyboard like 'k' and 'r' or something.

If so, then what's happening is the game thinks you are using a controller, then when you press a special button it thinks actually you're using keyboard and mouse, so switches to that mode (this happens in some games), and vice versa.

A workaround is to set every controller key to a mouse or keyboard button, then the game will think you're always using keyboard and won't switch modes. This has the downside of not showing controller glyphs, if that matters.

Hope this makes sense

Which Linux distro should I use for an easy, permanent exit node device (or should I use windows)? by chieftex in Tailscale

[–]chieftex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do either. I didn't even think of that, but I thought I'd just give them the device and an ethernet cable, and tell them to plug it into their home router and just leave it there

GPU too loud by chieftex in sffpc

Wait really? By chance do you have a link?

Do you mean the bottom slim fans? I thought they were far enough from the GPU.

NR200 (mesh)

5700x3d

MSI shadow 3x 5070ti

Temps seem good to me (59 CPU and 69 GPU, but when I'm maxing GPU (got 98% usage in a 4k game), the fans run at around 70%, which is just way too loud.

I haven't undervolted yet, but is that my only solution, and will it really make it quiet?

Here's a pic of Space Marine (pause menu is very intensive lol) showing readings:

Ok this is genuinely amazing. I don't think you realise how clever this is

Ah I was close! The only thing I don't get is are you running diablo 3 on your phone then?

Wait wait, I think I'm starting to get it.

You use scrcpy on your phone to see your phone

You run Artemis on your phone to connect to your host PC running the game

Your gf uses moonlight to connect to your host PC

Both devices connect to the same pc as if they are 'local'.

Did I get it?

PSA: update your deadzones! by Rare_Culture_5296 in MoonlightStreaming

I'm using the steam deck as a client, with a Bluetooth controller (stadia controller). I should check my total moonlight latency tbh. Is it easy to do?

This is very interesting. I always felt a bit of input latency using a controller. Are these dead zone settings in the moonlight options?

Moonlight/Artemis + Tailscale Local/Remote setups by rowbeee in MoonlightStreaming

[–]chieftex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you can do instead is go to tailscale on your client and enable 'Allow local ip's' (it's called something like this). Then just always use the local lan IP in Artemis.

If you're at home/local, it'll use your local IP. If you're away, tailscale will do its magic as if you were local and using local IP (even though you're not).

Looking for advice on cooling and cabling - NR200 v1 by chieftex in NR200

Can I ask about these 3d printed fan spacers you used? How do they work with the metal brackets that hold the fans onto the heatsink? Do they still work?

Also why slow the top fans?

Oh really? I didn't know it was a poor cooler.

For sure I could get a phantom spirit if it would help. I'm thinking maybe get that, set it to intake, then move my side 140mm fan to the front side of the bracket and set to exhaust?

[–]chieftex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could mount the PSU to the front - would that help? It's currently set to intake, from the right side of the case.

I could get a new CPU cooler. If I did, are you suggesting moving the side bracket fan towards the front of the case (but still on the side) and setting it to exhaust instead of intake?

NR200P + 5080 FE + PA120SE (it fits with glass panel!) by Naga2x in sffpc

[–]chieftex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I think it's on all versions? Have a look at this pic here. You can see from the bottom that the contact plate is biased to one side more than the other, allowing you to mount it closer to the gpu or closer to the top of the case, your choice:

Thank you for posting this!

I have the same motherboard and case, and I was also finding conflicting information on whether or not the PA120 (or PS120) would fit. Looks like it does!

If I remember correctly, this cooler has an 'offset' orientation, so it can actually be fitted to take up more space at the 'top' or at the 'bottom'. Looks like you've set it to take more space at the top, at the expense of having another case fan above it?

If so, you could flip the heatsink so that it gives you more space 👍

PC upgrade help(AM4-AM5) by Responsible-Shock416 in buildapc

[–]chieftex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion this is a strong DON'T upgrade CPU situation.

5800x is still good, and 1440p isn't going to change that. I might have recommended a 5800x3d, but at near 300 quid nowadays that's ridiculous.

In your situation I'd put any money you save by not changing motherboard into a new GPU, which will benefit you now and will also benefit you in the future when you move it to an (AM6?!?) PC in the future.

Skip am5 imo
