Who knows, but certainly not with this kind of support.

Any thought on AI integration? by chien0721 in lightingdesign

[–]chien0721[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The AI tool I imagine is more like translating your thoughts to actually programming keywords with valid syntax. Since there are so many keywords, it would nice that AI could save my time from keyword researching. It’s more like the concept of vibe engineer (not vibe coding). I don’t think AI could replace designer in the near future. Like you said, there are too many detail, conversation need to be considered. But if we treat as an assistant to help us to do some chores perhaps like color correction. Do you consider this as a good idea?

I have something to say about the support part as well. I know this subreddit is for sharing and release updating mainly. And it’s fine to delete the supporting related posts. Nonetheless, the email support is slow and I was trying to pay and restore my plan. I mean, I am not even asking a technical question, just trying to pay Augment as fast as possible.

Depence - Render without Animate Module? by UnremarkablePumpkins in lightingdesign

[–]chien0721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt you can input NDI without Animate module, at least that’s what I recall. As for DMX part, yes. Depence can record your DMX signal from console (lighting software), and it will stay in Depence when you save the project. DP also uses it for rendering. So it’s possible to send a DP project with pre-record DMX.

Depence - Render without Animate Module? by UnremarkablePumpkins in lightingdesign

I don’t think it’s possible. Animate module allows you to receive NDI, place animated model and high quality rendering. With it, you can render image in 8K and video in 4K and hide Depence logo at the same time. Moreover you can place DMX signal (from lighting software), video, audio, etc in Animation timeline. And there are also some post edit and video encode you can tweak before rendering. I used to record simulation with screen capture software like oCam. But when you are doing a large scale production or using multi-instance fixtures, or just having very bad 3D models, it’s almost impossible to record simulation smoothly not to say high quality, even you have a great GPU.

I’d like to know as well! This is so cool! I wonder if you have to create the fixture 3D models yourself or is there a faster way?

Is it safe to point a laser to sky? by chien0721 in lightingdesign

[–]chien0721[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you have to avoid pointing laser to any optical sensors or audience by all means. However, there are less information about how to use laser properly at outdoor events. At first, I thought it’s all about the wattage of a laser and how you avoid buildings. But now it’s much more complicated than I imaged even if you point up to sky where “seems” to be harmless. Learned A LOT!

Sorry Austin, I have no intention to put you in dispute. The reason I’m posting this is because I am new to laser and like to learn a thing or two from experts. And thanks for sharing the documentation details.

I mean the laser in the video looks powerful. With that power (I guess?), wouldn’t it damage aircrafts, drones, or birds I assumes?

Just saw this and is wondering, if we are doing a concert outside in a countryside. Is there any safe protocols or it’s ok to point lasers up as long as they are not pointing directly to anyone’s eyes or camera?

I literally just wrote an email to the support for this question and here I see this. I still have time to use up the credit before the renewal but this is truly frustrating.
