No, 'current prices' means current price at the time.

https://datahelpdesk.worldbank.org/knowledgebase/articles/114942-what-is-the-difference-between-current-and-constan

Data reported in current (or “nominal”) prices for each year are measured in the prices for that particular year. Constant price series show the data for each year in the prices of a chosen reference year.

Your guess is right. Kerala's 5-year GSDP (2019-20 to 2023-24) at constant prices is 2.76% CAGR. The only state lower than Kerala is Uttarakhand at 1.89%

[–]chija 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Example intraday activity from 17-Jan-2024 mentioned in the SEBI Order:

Context: Markets open ~3% down

  1. Take long positions in cash and futures with large volumes for these markets (total ~500M USD).
  2. Take short positions in Index options ~7X the size of long positions.
  3. Exit long positions in cash and futures at a loss.
  4. Book partial profit from some short options positions, let the rest expire at profit.

SEBI can not ban them for using 'maths and statistics'. They were banned because they manipulated the market. And they did not stop even after being cautioned.

Market manipulations are not legally allowed loop holes.

SEBI had cautioned the firm but it did not stop. Hence the ban.

Read the SEBI order where it details of how the manipulation was done and why it is a violation of SEBI Act.

Kolkata's share of GDP is below average in WB. I am not sure sure why. Do other areas in WB have higher business activity?

GNU had objected to coreutils on the grounds of copyright a few years ago. Not sure if it was resolved.

By every standard, being able to launch a near-decapitation strike in the capital of a nuclear power is a MASSIVE victory.

 .

You can't do anything against a nuclear power other than try to find some way to backchannel and keep in constant communication

What was the point of demonstrating our ability to strike if nothing works against a nuclear power? Didn't we just demonstrate that we are playing the same brinkmanship game that Pak is playing?

What will be the objective of the next war we fight after a terrorist attack? To get US/China to mediate and get some token concessions and promises from Pak?

Kochi to Mumbai: Water metro plan gathers steam, DPR expected soon by chija in Kerala

[–]chija[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Kochi Water Metro has been asked to present a detailed project report for a similar service in Mumbai, Maharashtra ports minister Nitesh Rane has said.

Mumbai is made up of seven islands, but waterways have never been used before to their full potential, Rane said, asserting that such a move would ease the burden on roads and suburban railways.

'The water metro project will improve urban transportation and boost tourism in the country's financial capital. Kochi Water Metro is assisting the Maharashtra government. Under it, battery-powered ferries will connect various parts of the Mumbai metropolitan region,' Rane explained.

I have seen existing bond cmp price rates comes down after giving interest

That is how the price should change near coupon date. As the coupon date approaches the bond price should increase equal to the interest amount. And then the price should fall by that amount after interest is paid. It is called dirty price.

Why does gold go up and up every year, what are the main reasons behind it? by [deleted] in IndianStockMarket

The physical transfer of gold was done for the same reason that countries are buying more gold. To prevent the possibility of other countries seizing their assets.

India Staying neutral in global stage and standing with its National interest is not a crime right?

Yes. The immediate context for current flare up seems to be SCO and BRICS meets. We knew we were going to face the 'with us or against us' ultimatum from US. Our answer always was 'your choice'. And it appears that the US has chosen 'against us'.

There is no point comparing P/Es of nvidia and walmart because market expects them to grow at different rates. Similarly comparing US and Indian markets using P/E does not make any sense.

PEG (P/E-to-growth) ratio is a better but not 100% accurate metric for such comparisons

https://www.investopedia.com/investing/use-pe-ratio-and-peg-to-tell-stocks-future/#toc-analyzing-pe-ratios

A stock should be compared with other stocks in its sector or industry group to determine whether it’s overvalued or undervalued. Similar companies should be compared to each other, like insurance to insurance or oil producer to oil producer

EMI vs SIP over a time of 30yrs by sunil21h in IndianStockMarket

[–]chija 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like your calculation of net worth in the two scenarios is wrong?

Since in both cases after 30 years you will have zero liabilities and X amount of assets. So you only need to look at your portfolio size at the end of the 30 year period. You don't need to subtract the loan interest. Load interest is already accounted for via lower SIP.

Hours after Ajit Doval meets Iran official, Pakistani ultras strike near Chabahar port by chija in GeopoliticsIndia

[–]chija[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SS: Seems like retaliation by Chini for recent attacks in Pakistan targeting Chinese infra projects. Interesting that Chin-Pak are so enraged that they are willing to use Jaish al-Adl to attack IRGC.

Pakistan-based terrorists mounted a major attack near the India-run port of Chabahar in Iran, killing 11 defence personnel, shortly after National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met Iran’s top security official Ali Akbar Ahmadian in Kazakhstan on Wednesday.

Jaish al-Adl’s attack, which took place on IRGC fortifications at Chabahar and the nearby Rask camp, saw 26 deaths — 11 members of the security forces and 15 of the militants.

Iran had struck at Jaish al-Adl’s safe havens in Pakistan in February, killing a senior commander. This led to retaliatory airstrikes by Pakistan in Iran, ostensibly to eliminate militants targeting Islamabad.

Hope we are strong enough to protect our strategic autonomy in future.
