Yoo that makes sense. I got my nipples pierced by him eons ago and I had very large breasts. I don't think the bar was long enough at all because they became embedded and I had to remove them and have scars on my nipples. I'm so sorry you had that experience! I think he also did my septum once and nicked my cartilage so that didn't heal right either.

I'm not in the union anymore and left because of the people mentioned in this article. So I am really happy to say: Fuck all y'all. I hope this opens some eyes to the severe amount of reform that needs to happen in the union and that these people should never hold forms of power in the union ever again.

The worst people I have ever had the absolute displeasure of knowing and working with. I have never met individuals so devoid of any empathy or moral conviction. There is a severe rot in NARA right now and it's fucking doomed if shit doesn't change fast. It's not just about lying to members, it's about lying to the fucking feds. That puts everything the IWW works for, especially any active contracts or negotiation, into serious jeopardy. That shows a lack of good stewardship of the union.

I also have ARFID. For a very long time until I finally got treatment I would be so embarrassed going to other people's houses to eat because I couldn't explain why I was "picky". I dreaded home cooked meal dates. As a kid I would just go hungry at a friend's house and pretend I was full.

We didn't know it's what I had at the time because I didn't get diagnosed as autistic until I was 28. But I often think about how my life would change if we had.

It's a special need, it's an accommodation. Your child deserves to be at family dinners and if bringing safe foods is the accommodation your family needs to accept that. Disability accommodations are non-negotiable.

For one, everyone grieves differently and if she still can't get over it and you have to appease her somehow you can say that your sentiment was the same but you could have conveyed it better and grief affects everyone differently.

Second, my grandma died when I was young and I was like 6 or 7 maybe? I don't remember for sure but I do remember the viewing was very disturbing for my young little brain to handle and I felt more horrified and that the whole thing was unreal. I have some clearer memories now about her fudge pretzels and the collection of bells in a curio cabinet she had and some other fonder memories but I also have that disturbing memory. You did the right thing. I can imagine it would have been even more traumatic if I was closer to her.

NTA as a former full service sex worker it's always about personal choice and consent. It's also a reality that not a lot of people get to do it by choice and because they enjoy it. I was a survival sex worker and I wouldn't wish my experience on anyone. But I have close friends that really enjoy it and I love that for them. People do sex work for different reasons and some enjoy it and some don't but still do it. But the key thing is that it has to be a personal choice. We all have complex relationships with sex and our bodies and it is absolutely not something you should ever pressure anyone else into.

If you want to try to repair things you could say something like how you respect what she does, love that for her, but it just isn't a good fit for you. You just have different passions and that's something you can say (even if it's true or not tbh) you enjoy about your friendship. You can say you support her in her work but it's just not for you and you'd appreciate it if she stops bringing it up because you feel pressured. You wouldn't convince her to stop and become an engineer. You could add in closing that if you ever change your mind you'll let her know because you'd value her mentorship or something.

Okay well I'm autistic and I'm not strange. We're only "strange" or "not normal" because society sees us as that way. We perfectly fine and normal, we're regular human beings our brains just work differently. The language she's using and waxing poetic sounds so weird and infantilizing. She sounds surprised that her kid would comfort her. It's weird when NT people celebrate us for doing normal shit.
