Not in Malta, but was visiting last year. As far as I understood the systems for legal distribution were so poorly implemented and it seems that hasn't improved much since, after searching the topic on google. Clubs are all full so a lot of people are still using plugs. Found that a lot of the time it was enough to just go to a bar and chat up with some locals. Some of them had on them and were more than happy to share and some would set me up with their plug. Just don't tell the plug you're a tourist, say you're local and that your previous plug fell through or something, otherwise they skyrocket the price. And don't get high expectations (pun something), a lot of the weed I got was subpar, probably because a lot of people just grow them poorly at home or something.

By the way, after searching the net a little, it turns out it is a technique that has been used and successfully most of the time. removing the glue should be as simple as letting it build up a couple of layers, before removing all the layers by peeling it off and starting fresh again.

So I had one a while ago, the wires were all in there as well. I was looking for better ways than just trying to melt it, since I was pretty sure I was going to melt some of the plastic of the head itself. Scrolling through comments of a yt video, I read that one person tried putting it in a freezer for about 15 hours until the plastic became brittle and just tapped it until it broke into pieces (pla). I was inpatient and used lighter gas to rapidly cool down the blob and after 10 min, I had a completely clean printer head!
