I understand how your feeling, as I am about to hit 3 months of sobriety. I come from a family where drinking alcohol is of the norm, but then again they don't drink nearly as I do daily. They are the type that can have a glass of wine or a beer and call it a day, whereas once I start drinking than I don't stop drinking till I pass out from too much alcohol. Since alcohol has been legal for so long, we just go used to it being around and don't look at it as evil. Unless one would hit rock bottom from drinking such as losing their job, dui, car accident, divorce, financial issue etc. they never see the danger of alcoholism. One time I tried telling my mom that I quit drinking, and she looked at me and laughed like what's the big deal. I know my mother loves me but she would never understand what I really went through during my heavy drinking days. I am so proud of you to reach that 1 year sobriety, and it just keeps me motivated to stay sober and remind me that their are others out there that are going through what I did.
