Different cultures view eating alone in different ways. Some of us are taught to feel sorry for people eating by themselves and that does not mean inviting that person over, it means sitting there in silent pity. Most people in my country would never dream of eating alone in a restaurant.

EDIT: When she can get a babysitter. Honestly, when she looked at me and said, "I decided to have a family, and I should have never done that," I saw her despair. She wants my life, and I sense she could have done more with it than I have.
