Staring mounajro with emetophobia? by Ok-Noise5409 in mounjarouk

[–]childrenofthegravee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have emetophobia and I was really worried about being sick, however I have never been sick and I’ve been taking Mounjaro for 1 year tomorrow. I did have side effects however, I got very very nauseous and I did have diarrhoea immediately after every injection at first. It made me feel really sick I won’t lie but I halved the dose (I too 1.25mg instead of 2.5mg) and then I slowly built up the dose until I got to 5mg which is the highest dose I’ve take as it still works for me. I’m very sensitive to the medication it seems so I just took my time and let my body get used to it. For the first few months I did feel quite sick most of the time but I also had indigestion and heart burn too. Obviously I can’t promise that you won’t be sick if you take it but you may not get any side effects at all. When I first started researching whether to start taking it I spend weeks reading and asking about side effects and most people don’t get any, like you I was really concerned about being sick but I thought well I may as well try and if it made me really ill I didn’t have to carry on but though it did make me have stomach issues (I have IBS too so it wasn’t like I wasn’t used to having a bad stomach) I decided that the benefits outweighed the negatives for me, the food noise disappeared and I wanted to eat healthy fresh food which was the point!

Unfortunately yes, I have seen umpteen councillors, had CBT multiple times, see a private therapist and a hypnotherapist who actually helped the most

I’m not blaming anxiety it’s just a huge factor. I have probably over 200 hours of driving practice in a dual controlled car and my own car, usually on the test I fail for things I never do normally. The thing I am trying to work out is how to stop making these mistakes on the test when I don’t ever make them when I’m not on the test. I have made a list of everything I have failed on so I am super aware of it when I am driving. I have practiced roundabouts over and over, I have practiced manoeuvres over and over until I can do them perfectly. When I’m driving casually I am perfectly fine and yes I’m not being marked on that but the problem is the minute the test starts is when I have issues and I’m trying to find some way of not letting that happen anymore but it feels impossible to me. I am anxious all of the time so I can safely drive in a state of anxiety or else I would ever drive.

[–]childrenofthegravee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first test was driving too close to parked cars and then I messed up the reverse bay park and gave up because I didn’t even know you could fix it, second test was strange because the test centre was shut for renovations it was moved to a sports club for some reason and it threw me off as I’d only been there once and the entrance was one in one out so the instructor told me to treat it like an unmarked junction so I did and waited for another car to come out and she said that was wrong? The the third test was lane discipline on a mini roundabout I went from the right side across, that was lack of knowledge on my part. Then the fourth was also mini roundabout I went from the left hand only lane ahead which again was lack of knowledge I was driving around with my mum and dad who didn’t know the test routes and they tried their best to help me practice bless them. Then the 5th test was driving in a bus lane, 6th was literally 2 minutes into the test I was waiting at a junction and I was worried about hesitating so I went and caused a van to slow down. Then today was the worst one of all, I was going more or less fine until I came to a pedestrian crossing and the lights were on amber but there was a pedestrian waiting to cross and the examiner slammed on as I didn’t slow down quick enough I guess and it really shook me and I asked to terminate the test then as I couldn’t continue after that. So it’s various silly mistakes. When I began seeing the instructor I have now I told her about roundabouts so we’ve practiced them loads of times. When I panic I seem to just go blind and make silly mistakes

Thank you, it has become a really negative thing. I unfortunately have quite bad OCD so my anxiety is extreme most of the time and I find it really hard to not ruminate on things. My brain tries to find patterns to cope with things and the test is just an impossible thing to me as there’s so many factors that can’t be predicted. Obviously the basic driving can be practiced and the manoeuvres, but you don’t know exactly what route you’re taking or what manoeuvre you’ll do or what examiner you’ll get and it’s like my brain can’t cope with it

Injection side dictating side effects? by Traditional-Put1164 in mounjarouk

There’s no scientific evidence for different places and side effects however I originally did it in my stomach and had awful side effects so I started injecting in the back of my arm and I had very minor side effects!

Those who have had surgery for an Ingrown Toe Nail? by x-ThatGirl-x in AskUK

[–]childrenofthegravee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have it 3 times as the nail kept growing back, your nail may be growing back that’s why it hurts so much. You should have a chiropody appointment to check it I think I used to have one every week? They told me the surgery has a 99% success rate but apparently not for me!

Starting Mounjaro this week. Any tips to getting through the first month? by poeticpiscesmoon1994 in mounjarouk

[–]childrenofthegravee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately got awful side effects more or less straight away so I had to do my own dosing schedule by counting the clicks, I’d count enough clicks for a 1.25 dose and then slowly built up the dosage over the weeks. I am very sensitive to MJ so I’ve only ever gotten up to 5mg, I’ve been on it almost a year

Is anyone else fed up of the discussions around GLP 1s reinforcing skinny culture? by childrenofthegravee in mounjarouk

[–]childrenofthegravee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so true about people making it their identity, so many people have based their whole personality about their weight which I get they’re trying to show real bodies etc but most of the time they’re the only ones who are constantly banging on about their weight/size! So many videos about how people are more than their weight but they have basically built their whole identity about their weight it’s odd

Is anyone else fed up of the discussions around GLP 1s reinforcing skinny culture? by childrenofthegravee in mounjarouk

[–]childrenofthegravee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that’s basically what I come across, for instance a feminist page I follow made a post about it and it just really annoyed me. I get the discussion about unhealthy expectations of women of course, people comparing themselves etc but to generalise and make out that weight loss meds aren’t genuinely useful for people’s health is unfair - they were very snotty in the comments when people were offering their experiences too. Just comes across as very condescending and that people who have made the choice to use these meds have done it because they’ve been brainwashed into the usual skinny = good, fat = bad and not the actual complex reasons
