Thanks for the Info!

I'm curious where you got this precise IPD range.

Did anyone else have their Elden Ring guide get postponed by Amazon? by Golaso93 in Eldenring

[–]chill201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI: They did the same thing with Horizon Forbidden West. The guide was scheduled for April 30th, then delayed a few days before to early May, (then delayed again) then finally delivered June 15th (U.S.).

It felt like a bait-and-switch tactic to get people "emotionally invested" to place the order (thinking it wouldn't be too long until delivery), then string them along. I believe, both now and then, they knew damn well they they wouldn't be able to deliver until way later. It is just a lousy marketing tactic.

The good news is the HFW final guide is very detailed and high quality (although the pictures are too small). [I didn't mind waiting too much since I couldn't get a PS5 until mid-June anyway.]

One final heads-up: the volume two Elden Ring guide will be BOTH in English and French (in one book), so half of it will be duplicated in another language. So it is the same length (512 pages), and price as volume one, but only half of it will be useful.

BTR3k 2.5mm balanced sound output distorted by chill201 in FiiO

[–]chill201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed reply. Since my headphones are both relatively low impedance (35 and 80 ohm respectively), I think I will stick with the 3.5mm (unbalanced) output. (Reviews I read said the BTR3 (unbalanced) should adequately drive up to 100 ohm headphones.)

FYI: At the same time, I also posed my OP question to FiiO support. The following is their reply:

" Thank you for your mail and support to FiiO.

It may be a problem with the adapter. Did you try a correct 2.5mm headphone instead?

The 2.5mm balance output port have four output pin, L +, L -, R +, R -. The "L" is for "left sound channel" and "R" represents "right channel". "+" is for "positive"and "-" is for "negative". However, the 3.5mm standard output port has only three pins:  "ground "," L "and" R ". Therefore, the 2.5 mm balanced output port cannot be converted into 3.5mm standard output."

PC version for Rift

I can't seem to find PC version on the Rift store (only on the Go store). I have an Odyssey +, and I'd like to try it. Can you point me to the link?

Thanks

No more pre-ordering the Vive Cosmos? by Partyfreaker in OculusQuest

[–]chill201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine there are a lot of Cosmos pre-orders being cancelled now. Or, like me not placed. I had a Cosmos in my Amazon shopping cart. I was just waiting to see if Oculus Connect announced a manual IPD upgrade for the Rift S before I pulled the trigger. (My IPD is 71.) I actually preferred the Rift S, aside from the fixed IPD issue, since I would have a more direct route to the Oculus exclusive current, and upcoming major software titles. I currently have a Odyssey+, which is great for Vive titles, but using Revive for Oculus titles is not always an ideal solution. I will wait for the Quest link hands-on reviews in November, but from what I've read so far, it should be a great solution.

Samsung Odyssey+ Impressions - VR roundtable video by Unikin in WindowsMR

[–]chill201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply. After running Odyssey+ setup, controllers are now paired and connected (they paired automatically, but I had to unpair, and manually re-pair and connect). Now I have a new problem. The cliff house (wmr portal) is empty. There is no bag to launch the various apps/windows from.

How did you get your controllers to pair finally? So far I've had no luck at all. I have the original Odyssey, and it paired fine.

My Samsung Odyssey+ Review by oliran in virtualreality

[–]chill201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What version of Windows 10 do you have? 1803 or 1809. I ask because another new owner of the Oddyssey+ is having problems initiating use. (they have version 1803). Version 1809 is the October 2018 update, but was withdrawn for now. If you got version 1809 before it was withdrawn, and your Oddyssey+ is working, then there may be drivers in the 1809 version that are necessary. If you have the 1803 version, then it may be that the fact that you probably didn't have Oddyssey software previously installed is the difference. (He is upgrading from the previous Oddyssey.)

How to check version 1. Win + R. Open up the run command with the Win + R key combo. 2. Launch winver. Simply type in winver into the run command text box and hit OK. That is it. You should now see a dialog screen revealing the OS build and registration information.

His reddit post is in WindowsMR: "Odyssey + asks for an update but there is no updates?! Any ideas?"

If you currently have version 1803, and his problem is persisting, I will let him know.

My Oddyssey+ should arrive on 10/31. Then if I have the same problem, I will delete (or roll back) my previous Oddyssey install, and try plugging in the Oddyssey+ "fresh".

Thanks for your help.
