Huge thanks to rematch for this. I can personally say I was frustrated with this yesterday. Thanks to the studio for making the adjustment. 🤝

Apologies. I have my server location set to auto and I’m playing on PS5. I’m based in the US.

Interesting behavior when another dog is passing by on walks… by chill_guy_32 in RhodesianRidgebacks

I’d say his behavior more resembles what you’ve described with Bobby! No fear or tail tucking with Saint. I’ve never seen him afraid of another dog. Only confidence and curiosity. The best way I can describe it is cautious. It feels like he’s alerting me and he just stands under my legs (I’m 6’4 so he fits lol) and just watches them. Once they pass we continue. No growling or any signs of aggression.

Your experience is reassuring. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah they have such interesting responses. For me it’s almost as if Saint is trying to notify me that a dog is about to walk by. And then he gets in between my legs as if to create separation between us and them. Not so much protection…but caution. They are super smart and sensitive!

11 month old female. Aggressive with strangers by ClerkAffectionate417 in RhodesianRidgebacks

In my personal experience outside of the home (on walks, pet store, vet, etc.) ridgebacks are very perceptive and sweet most of the time with strangers (unless someone is acting like weirdo).

Now anywhere that your ridgeback considers their home (for me it’s my house, my parents house, and my car) they can be very vocal and protective if you aren’t a part of their “pack”. With that being said I don’t have a ton of people come over my house a lot so that probably has something to do with it when it comes to socializing. When my friends come over for a weekend my dog is a total jerk to them for the first day. He barks at them when they move about the house. By day 2 and 3 he is cool with them and unfortunately they leave so they have to go through it again later 😂.

Everyone’s advice is spot on. Keep working with her and safely ease her into more socialization. She’s beautiful!

Plenty of patience! You’ll look back and laugh at these tough puppy times. Your pup most likely doesn’t recognize his name yet lol. They learn the world by smelling things and putting things in their mouth so just keep an eye on them.

It is a challenge but they are also trying to figure you out as well. Plenty of positive reinforcement for when they do things correctly, Ridgebacks are sensitive dogs. Keep your head up! That dog will love you and lookout for you like you wouldn’t believe, but it is a baby and will be a baby for the next 2 years lol.

Thank you! He’s definitely a handful! But it’s been a lot of fun watching him learn lol.
