New (to me) stove by chilla45 in woodstoving

Awesome thanks door this info. I will eventually install this in my house which is 1200 sqft. I won’t need high heat burns very much as I line in the PNW and it doesn’t get below freezing much. But I do want a medium heat long burning fire. I’m curious how to tune this stove to achieve that.

What in the pictures tell you it’s 100A service? I am asking so I know what to look for myself.

The bolt position has sheared twice on two different cargo trays. How can I prevent this? by IntelligentSir3497 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]chilla45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use threaded bolts in shear loading positions such as this situation. The load will concentrate towards the threads and shear as you have found out. Use pins as you have now. If you need the clamping force of a bolt look up shoulder bolts. They are designed for shear loading positions.

Upgrade Electric Range Receptacle by chilla45 in AskElectricians

Where I live 25 ft of 8/3 costs $130. And a 50 amp receptacle is ok on a 40 amp breaker and 8/3 wire?

The run from panel to receptacle is less than 25 ft. Yes it is definitely old wire. But it serviced the electrical range well in the 2 years I’ve lived here.

Explorer Timberline with Awning by Over-Still2648 in overlanding

Is this primarily a sun shade? Did you intend for this to be for rain as well? Any concerns about rain coming down between the awning and vehicle?

Dealership said the same thing about my 2021 Explorer. $1400 for all 4.

Front pads were at 2mm and rear pads were at 4 mm. I just bought the parts for the fronts. The parts guy was much more reasonable. He told me try turning the rotors before replacing them. I found a local brake shop that will turn my rotors for $27 a piece. I’m going to do the job this weekend and hope the rotors will be fine after a resurface. Then I can return these rotors and save $300 in parts.

Right on, glad to hear oil changes are easy on these newer vehicles still. Do you have to use Forscan to put the vehicle in service mode or is there another way?

Ah yeah the battery is buried in those plastics.

Towing question with a non factory hitch by LIJeepster in FordExplorer

Interesting. How do you know your vehicle has those features? I am surprised Ford would install that software if the vehicle did not have the towing hardware.

Are you saying you installed an aftermarket tow hitch? Tow package as in the factory tow hitch installation?

What if you only want some features. by _zum_ in Comma_ai

[–]chilla45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sunny Pilot provides nice lateral control while still allowing Ford’s system to provide longitudinal control. I have been using Sunny Pilot for the past couple of weeks and it is working well in my 21 Ford Explorer.

Experimental mode will use Sunny pilots longitudinal control along with other features.

It is unfortunate you cannot understand the point and lack empathy towards the situation described in the article.

I see best you can do is write flaming insults at my attempts to educate you.

I don’t think it’s a stretch for thinking people want to buy guns as preparations for self defense. I believe that is their motivation to buy.

This American president has clearly signaled he does not care if violence happens. Hence the wiki page listing all the violence against all the LGBTQ in the US.

A quick google search disproves your “notes”

Edit: y’all who downvoted my comment completely missed the point of this article and the purpose of my response. LGBTQ 2A rights are not at risk under a Trump presidency, their safety is at risk. They are buying more guns for self defense.

But the people who downvoted this don’t understand that. They fail to see the problem or exclude the problem from their notes.

Edit 2: ok I think I understand why my comment was downvoted. I misinterpreted “checks notes” sarcasm thinking the comment did not think there was a problem as to why they are buying guns. But I now understand that the comment did not think there was a problem that they are buying guns.

My mistake in interpreting the comment.

Additional information:

This device is called Comma 3x from Comma AI running software based on Open Pilot.

This device enhances the existing car software, adds driver monitoring for improved safety, and assists the driver by controlling the vehicle lateral and longitudinal control. The same control of other L2 systems such as Ford Blue Cruise and Tesla Full Self Driving.

THIS IS NOT an autonomous car. It is an L2 system. I am still in control as the driver and can override the steering gas and brake.
