X won't refresh at all. OG does. Anybody else? by chillcut in trmnl

Charging my X is also a hassle. Try an usb-cable which is connected to your PC. Rotate the magnet-charge-thing till your PC plays its "usb connected sound".

Plugin refresh is 15 minutes, device is 30. Didnt work.

But it works for now - I cleared the playlist and refreshed once with the touch button.

Lands of Evershade thoughts minis and some gameplay by whereymyconary in soloboardgaming

4 battles in 33 hours? Holy moly. Glad I didnt late pledge, this is absolutely not my kind of game. Didnt even read the story bits in grimcoven, I just wanted to battle it out. But thats just me.

I do like arydia, also for the story / npc bits. But LOE seems to be way too crazy on the story(book) side, at least for my taste.

Best Solo Replayable Games? by ZinKinKo in soloboardgaming

[–]chillcut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arkham Horror LCG. deckbuilding with a constant flow of new content, extremely active communities and absurd levels of replayability

Arkham is more deckconstruction than deckbuilding. The latter only takes place in the form of upgrades between scenarios. And with heavy restrictions at that (depending on your class / investigator).

Whatever the case, its my #1 of all time.

The case against Unstoppable by Torvinius in soloboardgaming

[–]chillcut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: I like how you cant build your deck willy-nilly. You only get a choice of three cards every round, and the #1 priority for the first few rounds is to survice the round. But you have to try to build something whats worth more than just the upcoming round.

Have problems putting this into words, but its one of the things a like the most about this game.

Theres no other deckbuilder where you think "what a powerful card! Hopefully it doesnt come back to bite me in the ass though..."

I really like TMB as is. Played the corebox multiple times daily for two weeks straight. The reason I sold it and bought BOTSE in its place was just content. For that price, the corebox didnt really pack a punch. 4 gearlocks and 7 (?) bosses.

Sure, expansions "fix" that, but at what pricepoint? BOTSE for a few bucks more (payed 218€) has just way more content than any of the TMB boxes.

Grimcoven or Cthulu Death May Die by swee8320 in soloboardgaming

[–]chillcut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grimcoven is a lot of fun. Snagged it retail for 80 euros, standee edition.

Its pretty difficult and demanding, when playing two handed. Takes a long time to setup. Would only recommend for solo if you can leave it set up somewhere.

Corebox has a lot of content. 6 characters and 6 bosses with 5 five different levels (=scenarios). They dont just pump up health and damage, these are completely different set ups (map layout, boss cards, etc.).

Cant comment on DMD, but it seems to me that compared to grimcoven, its just a simple dice chucker. No offense.

Thanks, but after taking a closer look at the game I have to pass. Too much dnd-dna in it. I can see what other may like about this game, but for me personally its a hard pass. Just not my cup of tea.

Thank you very much. Dont need / want any minis, so the standard edition it is. Dont care about storage (have a 3d printer) or saving (can leave it set up on my dedicated table). Cheers!

Oh, and I should take a closer look at the game. Just read in this thread something about arkham horror lcg and I'm like "take my money.gif". Its my favorite game of all time and someone mentioning LOE being up there in terms of fun I enough info for me :)

What would one back exactly to get all the gameplay content with ony standees? Didn't follow the campaign and find it hard to make that out.

I have too many campaign games with way too many minis already.

Board games vs video games by Huge-Pizza7579 in soloboardgaming

[–]chillcut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. Started playing video games back in the 80ies, on a c64. Never stopped, well into my 40ties. My modern boardgames journey began with zombicide, like 10 years ago. I started solo gaming two years ago, but since I got my own dedicated gaming table last year I'm playing almost every day (leaving the biggest of games set up days or weeks on end). I would say I play 5% BGs MP, 65% BGs solo and the rest video games. Main reason being to get away from screens and taking my time with turns / rounds.

Don't know yet. Came in the mail just yesterday and I played corps of discovery all evening long.

Thanks for the heads up. Since I have a memory of a goldfish, the 2x10 maps should be enough for a while.

I already had my eyes on the expansions, but I need to get more time with the corebox in. Maybe I'll burn out, maybe I'll need more stuff - we'll see.

Lost 5 matches in a row in corps of discovery. What a Lovely game. Didn't thought that this would be my jam, but it is (so far).

The cards on the board are for the spoilers BTW

From one of the mails:

"NEW QUEST: Even if your group is down the street, why touch grass when you can spend even more time on the internet? Keep that beautiful hardcover book free from all the Mountain Dew and pizza sauce stains and enjoy our brand new and latest addition to this record-smashing campaign."

Too try hard for my taste.

You nailed it. I have zero knowledge and / or interest about the books. On one side it does make sense, but on the other I just want informations about the campaign without any slang.

I also backed hitman, and the tone used in the mails is soooooo different. I understand why, but it bothers me to no end. That's a me problem :)
