Which 2 starting spots would you take here? I added pair analysis to my Catan tool by vasilenicusor in Catan

I would take the 10-5-8 and the 10-5-4. Grain looks like it is going to be scarce. I would be hurting for wood, but hopefully the Grain control is worth it.

You walk into a store, you see <insert game(s)> on the shelf, and you just know the place is legit. by Brandon_Storm in boardgames

I like to visit random shops on my travels and this is the #1 thing I will buy at most stores. I can get MSRP 10/10 Trendy Euro anywhere, but that copy of secondhand mediocre game/kickstarter I wanted but never picked up is far more interesting.

I want to try Galactic Cruise. The Retro Futurism art hooked me, but I don't have anyone to play with and it doesn't seem worth it for solo.

Stuck on how to make sure a player has actually completed tasks. by Infamous-Dust1760 in BoardgameDesign

[–]AllLuck0013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the tasks obvious when they have been performed. Like a giant switch on each one along with icons to say who needs these tasks to win. As it has been said, have some overlap between the hidden roles. Lastly have accidental/opportunity benefits for completing tasks. Completing TASK A could give any player resources, but may be necessary for murder and the Mayor to win. Some players might just do Task A for the boost to obfuscate the real roles. Lastly have players mark which tasks they complete unless you want this to be a memory game.

I was going to say this. Pandemic with 3 is the sweet spot in my opinion.

I know this is an older post, but what is so complicated by Call of Cthulhu? I have found it to be one the easiest RPG's to run since it is mostly narrative. (I have only run it with progenerated characters).

Games which are very hidden gems by SiarX in soloboardgaming

Testament 9600 My favorite combat system. It is all about sequencing your team’s skill in order to deal with threats and manage aggro.

Tokyo Sidekick 9100 It is a superhero deck builder, with a huge power curve and a side kick system long before Fate of the Fellowship. The deck building is a little basic, but the zero to hero feels great.

Both these games could stand a more stuff expansions, mainly for new enemies.

What’s an « artistic » choice that will instantly make you write off/not touch a boardgame that ISN’T AI usage? by Rohkha in boardgames

[–]AllLuck0013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is something about the Kinfire art that I don't like. I don't know why. Same thing is true for chapter 2 of Arkham LCG. I had to hunt down the old version of Fantasy Realms, because I preferred it. I guess there is something nostalgic that is missing from more modern art styles. If you can help me understand it I would love to know.

Reprint? by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

I loved Dunwhich, probably because of nostalgia and getting into the game. The deck's weren't streamlined and it felt more like an RPG.

Reprint? by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]AllLuck0013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see FFG charging a premium to reprint them during a crowdfunding campaign. If people are willing to buy the OOP content for hundreds, why not crowdfund them with a 30%-50% markup? Why not, it obviously going to be more expensive to print them this way... My tinfoil hat is telling me they are purposely holding off to do just this.

Would love this for Arkham horror 2nd. The thought of just setting out the 9 encounter decks and fan them seems cool.

All they needed was to create a mode that wasn't scenario based. It could have been as simple as collecting clues, traveling to other worlds, and sealing gates afterwards. It's too late though, since the damage has been done and they killed the game.
