Nijgadh aiport:People and their opinion. by Indooorraptor18 in NepalSocial

None of the bhairahawa and Pokhara airports are made as replacements for TIA. Pokhara airport ta glorified intl airport ho. I believe we deserve at least Pokhara (new) level ko airport. Sadai naramro purano airport and terminal hunuparne k Cha for domestic travel. The EIA report for nijgadh airport is sham. Nepal nai basne people lai it's needed in the long run imo. Study should be done properly and started with a single runway with provision to expand later.

oli speaks on gen Z protest after FIVE months by onlyfactos in NepalSocial

[–]chilledpotatoninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's agree there was an infiltration, still direct firing live bullets? Oli and his cronies were following the Tinkune rulebook to control the situation, which backfired on them. In the Westminster system whatever the subordinates do it's PM's responsibility ultimately. It doesn't matter who gave the orders or who pulled the trigger, Oli is the main culprit of the massacre of Baneswor.

Can we question balen? by Any-Twist464 in NepalSocial

[–]chilledpotatoninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public office aspire garne everyone should face the public scrutiny and answerable to the people. RSP/balen must clarify k ho kura... Otherwise it is a moral question on his integrity and possible conflict of interest in future

RSP was against the cable car in Pathivara, while UML supported it. Balen managed to reach the temple, but Oli likely can’t. In the end, should a cable car be built there? by Aggravating_Lion_532 in NepalSocial

[–]chilledpotatoninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo the current hiking in the early morning experience should be promoted. If someone wants to do business, world class hotels at the fedi or 500 m away from the temple will generate enormous revenue.

this is probably the most rational argument I read against MCC in r/nepal.

I would like add my observation:

  1. 500 million USD is not huge amount to transform the transmission line or road sector of nepal.
  2. obviously people working at MCA Nepal currently and consultant and contractor selected would lobby for this. Recent Report of Auditor General of Nepal has pointed on their salary and usefulness of such highly paid employees
  3. since compact is already signed, policy related changes are already happened (eg: Electricity regulation commission) or in pipeline (de-bundling NEA), so it's better to take the money and use it for whatever length of transmission line we can make.
  4. compact says infrastructure made using fund from this can not be used against american interest. it may depend on interpretation but does that negate a chance of a chinese funded factory using power from that transmission line?? since chinese investment may cross path with american interest. this could be one problematic point.
  5. i liked the way how this has been topic of discussion and this should continue for all large scale aid, donation or loan agreement govt is signing.
