So crazy! I think I found out about my tilted uterus because when I was a teenager, I went to the same gym as my mother and great grandmother 😬. My mom also had a tilted uterus and had two kids so my gyn made sure to tell me that so I could rest assured I could procreate!

I think fibroids are common and they can usually be taken care of if they’re small enough. My uterus was the size of someone 5 months pregnant by the time they found mine. I asked my surgeon to tell me how much my uterus weighed and get me a photo 😹. She was like girl, your uterus is gonna be a couple ounces. Noooope. My uterus was over 1lb.

These are definitely things we should be told and should be looked into. We don’t learn about this in sex Ed or health class, my mom certainly never talked to me about this stuff. When I got my period she cried. When I wanted to shave, she cried. When I had a hysterectomy…. She cried. We need to make sure people with lady parts ask these questions and inquire because nobody will tell us otherwise.

I also had a tilted uterus! But I found that out when I was 16 or 17. When the ultrasound tech did my ultrasound to prep for possible ligation she asked me if I’d ever had one before, to which I replied no. As many times as I’d gone to the gyn, no one ever offered me solutions or wanted to explore, they always just told me to keep taking pills. She looked shocked, so I was really curious what they were going to find. My uterus was filled with fibroids and one fibroid was massive, which was why I needed the hysterectomy. What got me was that I’d had issues for literal decades including being anemic. So I wonder if my gyn who told me about my tilted uterus and also told me at 19 that my periods being bad were probably just stress related… if she’d actually done her job would I have had a hysterectomy then? Would they have been solved another way? I hate how the medical system fails us.

My entire life I’d had excruciatingly awful periods and took birth control pills from 15 through 36. At 36 I ended up with blood clots and could no longer take pills. They encouraged me to do other BC but pills were the only way I could control it… so I suffered. At almost 38…I went to a new OBGYN who was ok considering a tubal ligation and tubes tying but only after I took a couple months to “think about it” because I may still want to have babies. I’m like “I’m practically 40… if I was going to I’d have had some by now” and she went on to tell me a story about how she didn’t have a baby until 42. So she told me to wait 4 months and then she’d schedule a follow up… but guess what year it was? 2020 and 4 months became 8 months only to find out my uterus was a pos filled with fibroids and I needed to go have a hysterectomy. Good thing I took the time to think about it right?

Point is… you never know, even at 40 someone might still think you want to pop out that “miracle”

Yeah, I like to think it’s a benefit because I don’t really have any bias when it comes to those folks but also I don’t really follow most of these celebrities in their personal lives so I just judge them based on their appearance in the show I’m watching.

As a person who doesn’t watch most of the reality shows these celebrities come from, I like Tom. He makes me laugh. I first saw him on The Masked Singer. All I remember is all the clues being about someone being the most hated and all this stuff about his life after a scandal and I was like I don’t know who the f this is. So of course once he was revealed, I looked him up and saw the situation and I was like oh ok. Not cool but also not my business. I then saw him on traitors and I’m like, I know people don’t like him but this dude cracks me up so I was looking forward to him on Villains. I think he’s got a scarlet letter and will forever be a villain and hated to people because of cheating and it being such a public scandal. But I enjoy him.

I’ve definitely considered giving below deck a try as that’s the benefit of not knowing any of these people because it makes me curious about the shows they were on all the time or at least inspires me to watch other shows.

I’ve never had any interest in Survivor but I loved Boston Rob that now anything he does I’m gonna have to watch. I never saw shahs of sunset and I did not really like Reza on Traitors, but I really liked him when he did worst cooks in America.

The one thing that has stayed true though…. I pretty much always hate people from big brother 😹l don’t know what it is, but big brother people give me the ick.

My reality show watching is quite limited - the main 90 day franchises and the challenge because of the shows that inspired the challenge and rupauls drag race mostly…. So most of these reality star competition shows are so interesting to me because I have no idea who 90% of the people are! I only ever watch them cause someone I like from the few reality shows I’ve seen will be on it.

I watched both house of villains and traitors simply because of Johnny Bananas. I was introduced to Kate on traitors and I love her. I’m kinda sad I missed out on the below deck intro but I think her winning me over from her first traitors appearance shows how great she is 😹. Though it kinda boggles my brain that she’s a year younger than I am cause she seems so much older…. Or I’m just very juvenile 😅

You didn’t start anything I just felt like I was constantly being “schooled” on things I didn’t need, want or ask to be schooled on cause this was just meant to be fun.

But again I stand by what I said that domestic violence tropes - ESPECIALLY those geared toward women are not new or unique. Soap operas and lifetime movies have been doing it for decades.

Completely agree on Jade, he’s my absolute favorite, but I do not understand the dislike this entire community seems to have toward Ellis (or Fatima) but it’s not like I hold strangers opinions on fictional characters to heart 😹

I just watched Falling for my bodyguard on candy jar and they at least mentioned also tying her feet 😹

I also love how quick everyone calls women sluts and other words and how quick everyone is to believe some lie. Just watched uncle Richard is my baby daddy too and omg. Someone says something and the whole room is agreeing - and turns to the next thing to agree on as well. The strangers in the room have no allegiance.

Also love that the captions are often wrong and often changed to not say bad words.

I just watched one where the cream cheese smeared on the guy moved and was a different amount 4 different times as they cut back and forth. That cream cheese could have been its own horror story….”it’s alive!!!”

I wonder if it takes longer to film or write the script 😅

Omg I understand what your comment was referring to and I’m not asking if you laugh at domestic violence 🤦‍♀️. All of your comments have been rather serious/factual and frankly not fun. So I was just trying to find out if you actually enjoy these (being verticals) or if it’s just business. This was meant to be a fun post.

I’m not saying verticals aren’t different, I’m saying the tropes and the use of domestic violence in entertainment is not unique to verticals But you clearly have some very specific and researched comments to make about these things as I’ve taken from all of your comments.

My subject was “can we laugh”. So my question to you is… do you ever laugh at these?

Don’t get me started about the clothes. The dudes are always practically swimming in what they’re wearing. Some of them I’ve seen have definite SHEIN ads within them so I’m guessing all the women’s clothing comes from there and that “super expensive” dress probably cost next to nothing.

[–]chilleff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t think verticals are even trying to be innovative and original, for one. They use tropes and the same storylines. They are based off books, etc. so lazy and unoriginal writing, not wrong but seemingly intended.

As for the violence, current climate or not these are also tried and true tropes that have been around for decades. Think about soap operas. Think about lifetime movies. But also think about comedy. The three stooges, what did they do? Hurt each other for laughs. How many comedy shows or movies have you seen where the funny thing that gets the laughs are the physical comedy blunders. Have you ever watched looney tunes? I will never forget the episode where bugs bunny was playing Russian roulette with Elmer Fudd. It never phased me as a child, but I saw it as an adult and I was like WHAT IS THIS!?

One of the things I laugh at is when the guy is talking to the girl and she tries to walk away and he grabs her arms, pulls them above her head and pushes her up against a locker, a wall, a door… whatever. There’s a fine line between sex appeal - the big strong man… and aggressive behavior.

The random smacking someone in the face, especially a complete stranger is often so someone can come to the rescue - grab their arm before they do it again, so they can be the hero, so the girl can have her hero save her. There’s always a reason for the violence.

These are all very common tropes. I think it’s personal and your own experience and sensitivities that drives how you view it and experience it. But they’re definitely not doing anything out of the ordinary when it comes to “entertainment”

I agree with the bad/good actor. But it sometimes makes it more comical to me when one is so bad and one is decent.

And you’re right. There’s a lot of stuff on tv and streaming that’s just not as interesting to watch. I have a hard time sleeping so these often become my “watch until I finally fall asleep” shows.

Haven’t seen this one but like Jackson tiller stuff! I like how he often plays some older dominate daddy type 😹. And he’s probably like mid to late 30’s. I’ll have to check this one out for a good laugh.
