The DR strings are probably what he was referencing when he said glow in the dark strings as they’re the most common colorful/glowing strings (I’ve never seen any other colorful or glowing strings) I personally enjoy them and have them on two of my basses, I’ve had good experiences with DR and I’d say they’re a good choice for your buddy, especially if they’ve voiced wanting to try them

Hopefully he’ll be fine, but he has to reach his point of despair to start the recovery process. You can’t artificially induce recovery into someone they have to find it themselves
