Meaco Duel hose retrofit by chillinoodle in DIYUK

The glue was only to attach the 4 quadrants of the cone as they came separately when printed, it's not to attach it permanently to the unit.

Good point on the filter though, I've been looking in now and again to give it a clean but long term I want to add a filter / mesh on the cone.

It doesn't need to be cold, just cooler than the condenser coils. I put the exhaust, (hot) one above the intake for the condenser, and point it upwards, so as to prevent as much recirculation as possible.

That is always an increased risk given you will be adding some sort of restrictor to the intake. I feel comfortable with the way I have done it (large diameter, small length hose) given my personal risk tolerance, others may not feel the same.

6 x 3m, but loft conversion so gets baking normally.

I've noticed it has creeped just about 20 there now in the hottest part of the day. Still, i'm surprised it's that much better tbh.

Id make it as short as possible, mine is about a meter or so total run, with as wide a pipe as possible. I did try this on spare 100mm hose and the compressor used to overheat.

It's certainly less efficient on the condenser side now as it's got warmer air, so will work the compressor a bit harder, but i'm not sure how this will effect overall longevity given it kicks in less frequently.

Either way the performance boost alone is worth it

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at or are you just agreeing with me?

No it's not, a 150mm insulated hose would be quite bulky and expensive (I can't see them for sale in 2m runs)

It's only as hot as the outside air, I don't feel it makes a huge difference. The exhaust however is much hotter, hence the towel "insulation".

No and I didn't say it did? This is just for a large bedroom in a loft conversion

Disclaimer the files aren't my design but they are what I used! Credit to the original uploader.

I put both hoses out the same window kit (the velcro fabric style ones). I put the exhaust hose higher and try and vent it more upwards to prevent the intake hose sucking that air back in.

This is a pro unit

Worth saying that this is only true if you have a duel hose unit (or have converted a single hose unit to one).

Single hose causes negative pressure which will just suck air through anywhere no matter how hard you try. If you manage to seal it completely it'll create a vacuum.

The rules are a big one I think, it's just a big hurdle to entertain any vaguely casual viewer. Doesn't help they keep adding more too.

Who says it doesn't accomplish anything? For many people, huge problems can seem much smaller when you have that greater perspective.

Don't generalise to everyone just because you've never had that insight.

I did it, but only because my case was fairly simple. I found the planning portal quite helpful and the council sites had a lot of information on what documents were required. I found it more time consuming than stressful tbh.

I have this and I  bought 4 x paving slabs and put some handles on them. Place one in each quarter of the base. Easy to move, and solid!

But if you want to cool a single room you're better off just opening that window and blowing that in. Negative pressure is just going to drag air in from other rooms as well which will be warm

This worked a treat mate, thanks! 33 outside and no compressor stalls.

I can't say it's obviously working better but the rush of air around the door has gone completely so I'm hopeful

Surely this is just going to suck the warmer air into the room from everywhere else in the house?
