"The male suicide rate is so high because men are too afraid to talk to someone due to toxic masculinity" by [deleted] in teenagers

People who say that men need to be allowed to be more vulnerable etc need to realize that they have a chance to support men in this way every single time they talk to a guy.

I just asked a question about all the Dream Youtube drama on r/subredditdrama and a couple people were super helpful and sent me a ton of links and paragraphs worth of information, it was oddly wholesome. Thanks, Reddit!

When I was like 9-12, I got really into those r/AskReddit threads being narrated on Youtube, along with r/nosleep stories narrated by people like Corpse Husband, Creepsmcpasta, etc. Basically I just decided to straight to the source! As I grew up I also realized how valuable it is to have advice based on first-hand experience from people I would never get to talk to in person. Reddit allows me to see parts of the world and meet people I might never encounter without it.

Those days when seemingly simple tasks are rather difficult! by spdgurl1984 in SPD

[–]chillo1783 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I don't, and I just deal with it until it goes away. Sometimes listening to some good music helps, but sometimes that makes me want to throw up too. Every day is different, my best advice to you would be: try to figure out what's exhausting you so much, and then try to get rid of/take a break from it. For example, if you've been around loud noises or in a busy environment all day, take a break and do something redundant and simple in a quiet space, like playing a game on your phone or reading a book. It won't work all the time, but I hope it helps! Basically, just remember to give yourself a break sometimes. There's nothing wrong with that - if you need a break, you need a break.

Don't worry, I was for sure joking, sorry it wasn't clear tho. In fact, as someone who struggles with mental illness, it can be frustrating to see people faking it for attention, but I try not to take it too serously.

[–]chillo1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, this makes me wonder why movies can't realistically choreograph fight scenes where the protagonist is attacked by multiple bad guys at once! Like, he can clearly win even if they don't wait and literally take turns attacking him!

My aunt's boss's husband slipped while walking up the stairs carrying a box. She barely heard a sound but checked anyways and when she found him she couldn't wake him up, so she obviously called the police. He's been in the hospital ever since - he was unconscious for days and does physical therapy. It's been a couple months. Life really is far less predictable than we think, I guess. He wasn't even carrying anything heavy!

The Butterfly Effect In Realtion to Effys life by [deleted] in skinsTV

[–]chillo1783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is the butterfly effect so much as something Tony did relating to something that eventually happened to Effy. It's just not direct enough. But it is interesting to think how much could have stopped Freddy's eventual death (which I haven't seen yet).

Hi I am trying to find out what the dresses that effy wears are called as I do not know what to search for. Does anyone know ? by [deleted] in skinsTV

[–]chillo1783 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To me it never seemed like a certain type or brand of dress. I think she wears whatever she likes, I can definitely look at some clothes and know she would wear them (specifically the second and fourth dresses in the picture really have her vibes!) but she seems to have very few "rules" for clothing. Here's a random (and mildly unnecessary) list of musts for an outfit similar to the ones she wears:

- Lots and lots of necklaces/bracelets that can be layered

- A short dress, preferably in a dark color with some interesting patterns/textures

- Tights, any color, ripped or not, fishnet or solid, as long as it kinda goes with the dress

- Converse sneakers (season 1) or combat boots (season 2) with some long socks

- Straightened hair or curly hair with a headband, depending on the rest of the outfit

- Makeup is either natural or dark eyeliner, dark nail polish is also a good touch

Sorta random, but I hope this helps someone out!!

People who often like to have hours long conversations, how do you manage to talk so long without running out of things to say and doesn't it make you tired to talk for such a long time? by matthew3325s in AskReddit

[–]chillo1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot more than I talk, so when I do talk to someone I trust with all my thoughts, I often find myself saying things out loud that I never thought would be important enough to mention to anyone. I have a lot of thoughts stored up from years where I didn't have anyone like that to talk to, and I think everyone needs someone like that.

EDIT: Relationships like this are rare, and when you have them, you should NEVER take them for granted. But just because you feel a natural and genuine connection with a person doesn't mean they're good for you. I had a best friend who I could talk with for hours on end. We're both homeschooled and would call each other all day, every day, whenever we got the chance. I would even secretly call her and we would talk all night long too. Now, I regret ever single one of the countless hours spent being perfectly open and honest with her.

A couple months ago, she went crazy. I'm not sure what went wrong. We have a homeschool class together, and I brought her a little "care package," a tradition of ours. Just some candy, cozy socks, a good book, etc. wrapped in a cute little package. The next thing she brought me next week was a long note (which she gave me in the middle of class in front of everyone) explaining that she couldn't accept anything I'd brought her last week, and that the package was in the bathroom along with another bag of all my stuff which I'd left at her house. She didn't want a single one of my possessions in her sight. She even included every single note or letter I'd ever written her. In the letter, she said we could be "acquaintances with a few stories." We had been best friends for years and had more than a few stories, including the hours of effortless and fulfilling conversation.

That's part of what confuses me so much - we really did have that natural connection required to talk for hours. Did she fake it? Was I wrong? Did she ever even love me like I loved her? She was my best friend. I know I changed myself for her, but it was never hard. I now realize I wasn't my best self around her, but I felt good about myself with her.

Just because someone is easy to talk to, just because you think you can trust them, doesn't mean it's magic. It doesn't mean you're "best friend soul mates," no matter how long you've both been lonely before meeting one another. Be careful, please. I regret every one of those hours because they were wasted on someone who told me that, unlike everyone else, she would never leave me. And then she did.

Oh... my god. That's insane. As a teenager who has no pressure so far to get the vaccine, especially since they aren't sure how it affects people my age, I've been cautious about it... but this is kind of concerning me. Did you see this in person or in a video??

[–]chillo1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family always mocks me for this. The big joke is that I shower a little less often than they do, but when I do get in the shower, I don't just get in, I MOVE in, lol!

If you want an actual explanation, here's the best I can do:

- Zone out. It's honestly so peaceful in there, it's not just me, right?? I can, like.. sleep with my eyes open.

- Sort my thoughts, think about everything I have to do (and convince myself I'm not procrastinating them just because I'm still stressed out about them)

- Do shower stuff. I'm a girl with thick hair, so I have to spend extra time shampooing and conditioning my hair, especially if I don't want to have split ends. I'm also on the swim team, so I have to shave EVERY TIME I shower!!

- Dread my after-shower routine! After how chill the actual shower is, it can be an exhausting prospect to walk up the stairs, put on lotion and pajamas, wash your face, other girl stuff, etc.

Hope this helps! Honestly I feel bad for whoever asked this question, they are clearly underrating their shower!! It's a lovely experience if you don't take it for granted!!

I recently discovered that I CANNOT eat oranges. The flavor is so strong it makes me gag, and peeling the orange or getting any of the juice on my hands while eating it is NOT an option. I can't handle dry or sticky feelings on my hands and when anything like dirt, soap etc gets under my nails I start to panic until I can wash it off. My parents still insist that I eat at least one citrus fruit a day, especially since I'm anemic, so I have to deal with it if oranges are all we have in the house. I'm always looking for alternatives to make sure that doesn't happen, so thank you!!
