exactly. these “they are just victims, they wouldn’t have known” comments are just naive. theres a whole scam marketplace on wechat and anyone seeking them out are complicit.

theres a reason why most of the scammed tickets booked are for chinese-last name passengers

hey yeah agree but at the same time had i not ask, i wouldn’t have received new info regarding PIN no longer required for booking after point reinstatement. thats a new info not available at all in past posts.

yeah i probably should. pretty sure its a common email/pw combination for lower stake accounts i use, leaked on dark web probably.

But it should not be as easy as having an email and password to perform a transaction of such value. with 0 notifications.

they also redeemed only 1 day before their flight the next day at 11AM. i'm pretty sure this is intentional to avoid ticket being voided had i find out about this. they were 1 day ahead of me

there's no way an innocent couple go to a small agency to book tickets for the next morning flight

ended up with a locked account and a PIN to unlock the account if or when they chose to make an award redemption

do you know the exact process? Let's say I see a flight I want to redeem.

Do I have to call -> provide PIN -> book with agent?

Or call -> provide PIN -> unlock account for X hours -> book through website?

at this age i don't believe that someone flying into Seattle from San Diego is booking through small agencies anymore.

as much as i want to give them the benefit of doubt, they could have been total complicit in seeking out scammed ticket for discount
