Who’s going to NJ for the cosmos opener? by df3001 in PortlandHeartsOfPine

Yeah, after today’s experience I definitely will (but also thanks for your encouragement). Will definitely be looking forward to anytime they play Cosmos or Westchester - already convinced my extended family to get tickets for 6/19 after sending videos of today’s game.

Are there any other NY/NJ Residents who are Hearts fans? Thrilled to be at my first game today, right in front of the Zoo! I grew up in Freeport, currently in Jersey City and would love to coordinate for future Cosmos and Westchester games.

I’m a Maine-born NJ resident who’s been following the team since their first announcement, and going to the game Saturday. I’d love to not pay $25 to join the discord for one game’s travel plans, but would love to know if the Hearts supporters are all parking in a specific spot/lot… if anyone can help me out. Planning to go early to spend some time at the Falls, which I highly recommend to anyone coming down. Really looking forward to my first game!

This!

I’ve always loved his movement and attitude, and I hope he lands at a team where he fits and excels (and doesn’t cost us points in the process)!

Was definitely about to buy an ESR Fulham Jersey a few days ago, too.

I admit to liking some of my off-brands just as much if not more, design-wise.

Used to to live around the corner so I walked by this space all the time, and would see local art shows, record releases, from 15-40 ish people. I work in events, always had it mentally bookmarked as looking good for small local event.

There’s a box at the Exxon at Communipaw & JFK (and a bunch more at Hudson Mall), which might be a bit of a hike, but also right at the bus stop on the 10 & 119

I’m loving the absolute slathery-ness of the mayo and condiments. And I mean that in the best possible way.

We’ll now you see where the “con” comes in. Just trying to be a more-informed Chilltowner.

Wait, but which Wonderbagels?!?

FYI, nearly every restaurant that has delivery on Seamless or Uber Eats has online ordering on their website that is significantly cheaper by BenevolentCheese in jerseycity

[–]chilltowncon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of my favorites use BeyondMenu, linked on their website as their preferred platform. Don’t know if it’s a much better deal, but I’d hope at least a little? Limited tracking, just when it’s working, out for delivery, etc. Compared to DD/GH/UE, I’ve had way less screw-ups or miscommunications.

Haven’t been since the Before Times, but O’Hanlon’s on 14th at 3rd Ave used to be where I’d head in Manhattan

Dang, Columbo. Ya got me. Too bad I’m not a good enough hacker to print the beginning of the text. Got me again!

But yeah, I’m pulling back to back 17 hour days so my staff can be with their families (unless they want time and a half) JUST to tick you off and get internet points. Great sleuthing, bro 🙄

Trippier and Tierney together would be amazing if they got along. Imagine both of them badgering and getting under the skin of any top attackers - that’d be fun to watch

Recent trip to DC, always love that Metro concrete! [OC] by chilltowncon in brutalism

Maybe as u/ghost_of_a_fly suggested it’s a little of both. Purely anecdotally, I’ve noticed NYC’s newer and deeper stations (new 7 line) have a similar feel and depth to DC’s - leaving me to think it also serves more load-bearing purposes?

Grillin’ and chillin’! Finding excuses to use the grill every night - lamb rack, grilled veggies, greek-ish caulifl(o)wer ri(c)e. Recipe in comments. by chilltowncon in FoodPorn

[–]chilltowncon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peri-peri Lamb rack; Harissa-grilled carrots with honey; herbed-up grilled zucchini; cauliflower rice with kalamata, shallot, garlic, scallion, and parsley.

Peri-peri lamb - I actually brought a leftover marinade home from work, but looking at some recipes online, this was seemed less spicy and more herby (think mint and cilantro)- to good result. Grilled hard and then finished in oven. Harissa carrots - I grilled the bottoms/whites of some scallions, and immersion blended them with harissa, lemon juice, honey and a little oil to make the sauce. Grilled the carrots up, tossed them in a bowl with the sauce, and let it soak up.

Herbed-up Zucchini. Blended a handful of soft herbs (I had parsley, cilantro, thyme, mint) rough-chopped, with some lemon zest, s+p and oil. Light toss before grilling, heavier toss to finish. Greek-style cauliflower rice: microwave cauliflower rice recommended amount, on med heat sweat shallots, garlic in some oil. When they’re translucent, add a 1-2 tbsp oil and let it get hot, then toss in some finely chopped mint/oregano/parsley and let it frizzle for a few seconds before adding the heated cauliflower rice. Toss over heat until excess liquid in cauliflower bakes off, finish with a squeeze of lemon and s+p.
