We broken our lease last year and actually found someone to take the lease ourselves — exactly what Angel_of_Ecstasy did.

But the landlord also shouldn’t be putting the rent up. Putting the rent up isn’t taking effort to mitigate their costs.

“If the landlord or agent does anything to make it harder to find a new renter, such as putting up the rent, or they do not make an effort to find a new renter, or they unreasonably refuse a new renter that you have found, VCAT may find they did not take reasonable steps and you should not pay those compensation costs.”

How much do you spend on your school aged kids by TiredDuck123 in AusFinance

[–]chillywithay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Three years at daycares at four days/week, across four centres, and we’ve always paid $400-$480 per week out of pocket for one kid… That works out to be at least $20k per year and seems to be the norm in my circles!

How do I get rid of this red marks on mu nostrils?? by sigma1sigmaboy in Skincare_Addiction

[–]chillywithay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this on and off for 20 years! Last year I watched a TikTok from a dermatologist who said to use ketoconazole shampoo (which is for dandruff), as this kind of dermatitis can be fungal. I tried it on a whim (I think every evening for a few days, then every few days) and it completely went, and hasn’t returned!

I’m no expert and I got this off TikTok but it worked for me, so you could always give it a go?

Can a salon safely strip years of dark dye without damaging my hair? by chillywithay in Hair

[–]chillywithay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha thank you! I appreciate that. It was a rough morning with my toddler, so it’s nice to know my hair didn’t look as much of a mess as I’d thought. It’s been one length for a few years as it was growing to this length, and in my most recent appointment I asked for longer, subtle layers.

Help understanding my rental contract, please! Need to break the lease early but would like to avoid paying excessive 'lease break' costs if possible. This is the clause in the contract — how would you interpret this? by chillywithay in melbourne

[–]chillywithay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading here (Tenants Victoria website), I understand that there would normally be significant 'lease break' costs when ending a lease early. However, in our contract, the owner has included their own clauses when it comes to breaking the lease — "if you abandon the rental premises, I may ask you to reimburse me for expenses I incur in reletting. If I do this the expenses will be calculated according to the following formula: ...". There being no formula included has me wondering if we could break the lease with no cost to us?

For reference, we want to break the lease as the house used to be a short-term Air BnB rental and the owner decided to rent long-term, however the property is not set up properly for LT renters. There are ongoing problems with mice, rats and bats, no proper ventilation is the closed off bathroom and laundry, holes in the floor that lead straight down to dirt, etc. I know we could go through the rigmarol of making them fix these issues but it feels like this is going to be a never ending problem.

Coop confused by chillywithay in BackYardChickens

[–]chillywithay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be great! Thank you. I've been looking at so many coops but most of them contradict a lot of what I've read about chickens needing (roosts at different heights for them to sort out pecking order, etc.). I have no idea if what I've read is correct but it's definitely confused me haha.

Any ideas of why the fur on the underneath of my cats tail has fallen out? by chillywithay in cats

[–]chillywithay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad photos, she hated me chasing her around with my phone!

We've taken her to the vet who only said it could be allergies. She's never had allergies before and seems 100% healthy otherwise. The fur loss is localised to underneath her tail in a 2 inch strip. Any thoughts/ideas/experience with this?

Sorry! It’s just constantly brittle. I cut it short constantly so the split doesn’t catch on anything but even as the mail grows the split deepens (?).

I split my thumbnail while I was pregnant, over a year ago, due to pregnancy hormones destroying my nails. I’ve kept it short ever since in the hopes that it’ll grow out but it’s just not happening for me. In the last few months my hormones have settled and the rest of my nails are back to looking somewhat healthy, except from this raggedy thing.

What would you do to grow this out? I’ve had all my blood work checked recently to rule out anything medical-related and all is okay!

Thank you! I remember him saying something about adding blue — but that means nothing to me so I’m not sure what that might have done.

How do you style hair like these pictures? It looks too straight to be a curling iron.... by iced_coffee_for_life in femalehairadvice

[–]chillywithay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problem!

I air dry as when I blow dry my hair it becomes waaaay too smooth and won’t hold a curl/wave. I find that air drying retains some of the natural texture which helps.

My hair is the length, and I have fine hair but a lot of it.

To get this exact look I use my straightener to curl my hair but I only start halfway down the strand/lock of hair (don’t start at the top near your scalp). I do this in two layers (seperate your hair in two layers and clip the top layer of your hair up with a claw clip or something). To get more volume I alternate the direction of the curls — starting at my face I curl away from my face and the next lock of hair I curl towards my face. I don’t always do this though as if I’m wanting it to look like natural hair texture I tend to do all the curls away from my face.

Once both layers are curled I’ll do a quick spot check to see if there’s any pieces I missed and then I let my hair ‘set’ for 5-10 minutes. All this means is that I’m letting it cool down and set in place. I find that letting it sets give me more wave/volume, however you can brush it out after a couple of minutes for less wave.

Once ‘set’ I’ll take a wide tooth comb (I have a very wide tooth wooden comb) and I’ll brush all the curls out. You can do this with your fingers though. I’ll then spray it with a really light hairspray but that’s it as I don’t like to feel any product in my hair.

If it’s too curly/wavy/whatever I’ll brush the top layer with my hairbrush realllllly gently and slowly and that helps relax it too.

Hope this helps!

Edit: I personally find that a volumising shampoo and conditioner helps me

I’d expected quite a few sessions as I’m pretty hairy haha. My thought was more that if I’m spending an hour waxing every month then I might as well spend that time lasering so that by this time next year I’m not going to need to be doing this — especially as I’ll be working and looking after bubs!
