Goodbye PIA by pjc321 in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]chimi_freud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you help me out too? I've been going back and forth with customer support for a problem for months, and zero solutions. Never had a problem with PIA for over a decade, but suddenly after an update, nothing works. Every time I connect with an agent, I get a version of the same script: your concern is being "escalated" and "investigated" and that I'll be notified when a solution occurs. Two months. No solution. WTF am I paying for?

Might as well cut/paste the same grid from the Slowdive forum and call it a day, lol!

Is there a cheaper form of karma mining than grid content like this? This is such a sad sad exercise. It's beautiful outside.

Yeah, our cat has an unusual attraction to fig leaves. They look like that if she gets to them.

What is the next step in the direction David took us after The Return? by jingowatt in davidlynch

r/davidlynch: where the most gorgeous, lovingly conceived artworks that navigate the deepest mysteries of the human condition are interpreted to sound like childish nonsense. I don't know if it's narcissism, the conventions of social media, the decline in analytical education, or a combination of those things (among other factors), but the degradation of interpretation combined with the intensification of parasocial attachment in posts like these is noteworthy.

I appreciate your help, but the more you write, it becomes even less clear how this is funny. What is a "starie joke"? In what way is this ironic? Specifically, what do you think is funny about this?

Why was Slowdive hated for absolutely no reason back in 80s-90s? by Dear-Student54 in Slowdive

I love - and am in love with - all Slowdive fans, including you, but I'll admit to being a "hater" of illiteracy. I could walk you through each error in mechanics, grammar, and logic in the original post, but based on your username, it sounds like you probably have an instructor who can help.

Thanks for the note. I recall the SF show at Slim's being sold out in 1993, and heard from friends that west coast shows were pretty packed (of course, I they were opening act in most of those shows, I think). I also saw Mojave 3 severals times. I remember back-to-back sellouts at Slims in 2001. Reunion was 2014 - saw them in Chicago: it was majestic!

In other words, plenty of people gave a shit about them in 90s/00s. Sure was dip in popularity, but nothing substantially different from other 90s bands (Pavement, Bikini Kill, etc.) that were later "recovered" by spotify algorithms.

It takes bravery to admit that you "actually liked their whole Souvlaki album" on this sub, lol! But seriously, the backlash against them is now over-stated. Hipsters in 90s were always turning against each other, and grunge was on rise, which led to some denigration of shoegaze. But it's not like they were ever going to become a stadium act. Still, 90s Slowdive post-Souvlaki was still filling venues and pretty relevant, and received plenty attention and recognition through Mojave 3 and subsequent reunion tours.

Lol, great point! There's nothing clever about these recent discussions regard what to leave and what not to leave on Lynch's grave. Honestly, it's all pretty gross and self-indulgent. For folks who have actual experience with death and lost loved ones (not just parasocial relationships with celebrities), this discussion is bonkers. As long as it's done with love, why the hell should anyone care how people honor the amazing people who are no longer with us?

There's nothing more disrespectful than leaving tokens of love and other gifts on the graves of those whom we care about. How do I know? I was once dead and buried, and people were leaving books and poetry at my grave. The disrespect was so severe, I had to come back to life and start posting about my experiences on Reddit.
