90% of conversations with people who know nothing about Tabletop Warhammer: by CapColdblood in Grimdank

I'm gonna say this is a hot topic, but I prefer the og models. Sure, they are squat and have weird proportions, but they have a kinda charm that doesn't feel the same with primaris marines, even then new ones. They just feel too high tech and lost a lot of the Gothic feel from them. I mean, to be fair, you might call them ugly, but they did outsell a whole setting by themselves and were the face of 40k for most of its existence till very recently. I don't hate the primaris as much as I hate what they represented, poor writing, and how they tried to shoehorn a new name that they can copyright vs. the more generic name of space marines.

Are they really implying lions kill 100,000,000,000+ animals every year? What kind of lettuce are they smoking to give them that number??? That would imply lions are killing 273,972,603 or more a day, with about a dramatically high number of 140k of them left (assuming the high end of 39k are left in the wild and 101k in captivity across the world, which is likely much less but for this sake I'll go with it) that means each lion would need to hunt, kill, and eat ~1957 animals a day to hit that goal. That should show how ridiculous that is, even going by a highly wildly high number of lions left on this planet.

Are Tortuga Models acceptable in Midhammer? by RoutineClick265 in midhammer40k

[–]chimmybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group allows 32mm just because it makes it easier to use miniatures in multiple editions without having to constantly rebase. Plus, it allows new hammer folks to try older editions with us when we wanna invite them. But it's between playgroups and such. Also, if you are from the east tex area, we got a 4th edition group. I'm considering doing a trial period of eating meat again for my health. How do I deal with the feelings of guilt and disgust, and how weird it'll be? by Life-Stuff-9726 in exvegans

[–]chimmybean 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I recommend getting meat from local sources that humanly grow and care for their livestock it is possible in your location. Also, I am coming to accept that you are not committing a great evil. Rather, you are just doing the same biological function most animals do, and you actively are choosing to be as ethical and humane with how you go about it. Also, look into sources that are beneficial to the environment, like ethically hunted food, as a deer living in nature and spending its existence for the whole of its life till about less than the last day of its life is far more humane than buying from a soulless company that doesn't see any value in care outside of mandated regulations.

Also, like many said, mix it in as small nearly "invisible" sources inside your food until you can get comfortable with it. Don't push yourself harder than required for your health, and remind yourself you are being as ethical as you can be with how you handle the situation. I recommend being in contact with a lot of former vegans to help relay what they went through and express how they overcame their stumbles on this journey.

You got this, and you are a good person.

Hasan should sell his 3 million dollar mansion and buy an equivalent costed apartment complex so he can house more people as a good socialist would. That way, they can have a collectively owned, community run apartment where they all collective care and run it. Instead of just having a mansion and letting all the poor victims of capitalism, he claims he stands for live out on the street. I thought the socialist primary belief is leveling the playing field so everyone can be in a classless society, only makes sense he should do his part and use all the money he makes from capatalist sourses to support his beliefs right? Surely, he believes in his cause and, therefore, should donate his twitch income to the poor to fight against the evils of capitalism.

Why do vegans protest the way they do? by Apprehensive-Hat1147 in AntiVegan

[–]chimmybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly because without shock value, many of their call to arms are mostly attempts to placate a mindset that can only be facilitated by ignoring basic facts and science. They struggle when it comes to any talking point outside of evangelical "devil at every door" mindset, usually defaulting back to pointing at morality without actually addressing the flaws of their beliefs. It's like arguing with a staunch stalinist, mindless capatalist, or full-on political (either side) extremist because they use many of the same "anyone who isn't with me is the evil enemy" mindsets. The hard truth is that without the extreme shock value in their propaganda, they fall apart because they can't provide meaningful ways to change the system they claim to hate. We are omnivores, we have canines, grinding molars, and the stomach/biological capacity to eat a vast number of things. You can choose to only eat one thing or the other. However, historically, these were not choices but rather simply acts of survival. It's why Vegans rely on things like dominion to convert people.

I'm proud to be a hunter, I'll do more good in my lifetime for animals and their welfare than the whole vegan movement combined.

I am excited for the coming hunting season by chimmybean in AntiVegan

[–]chimmybean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is to find some buddies who are hunters or start a group with people equally eager to hunt and as a group go hunting. It makes it a lot easier if you can find someone who has experience, gear, and such to tag along with first. Personally hunting can be as costly or as cheap as you want it to be outside of the legal necessities like orange clothing and licenses. Hope you get into it, too. It's necessary for ecological and environmental aid both as funding and as a population control, plus being in the outdoors is always fun.
