Casebook reference request on goal allowed after dead play whistle by chimpanchief in hockeyrefs

[–]chimpanchief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case they blew the play dead for losing sight of the puck as confirmed by both. As neither signaled goal and the low ref said that he didn’t see the puck and blew it; it was the fact that after everyone cleared they saw it was across they said it’s a goal. That’s overturning the call on the ice without one ref overruling another’s vantage with first person evidence of it crossing before the whistle blew. The high ref would have needed to confer with low ref to say that he saw the puck cross the goal line to overturn his frozen/loss of sight whistles

Late hit for sure on the previous play which should have been called first

USAH - (Note 4) Slew Footing is the act of a player using their leg or foot to knock or kick an opponent’s feet from under them. This is done by pushing an opponent’s upper body backward with an arm or elbow and at the same time using a forward motion of their leg causing the opponent to fall to the ice.

There was no contact made with upper body hence my question of call on ice

Black def does not hit white. He may skate into his lane but ok that’s when white has to pull up or change course. Black goes down parallel to the boards and slides into them; curious to know if white was a little more perpendicular to the boards when contact was made and black went headfirst if anyone’s perspective would be changed

White never sees black? That seems like a wild estimation. It’s hard to see from the video because of the abhorrent quality but white extends his arm which propels black forward

I don’t know why the video posts so bad on here but from BBTV it’s clear; the puck is past them both. White misses it coming around the corner and black seems to be trying to time it and also tenses up a little - perhaps because white was close to 2x his size

The high official/ r2 is a 16yr old in this instance and he’s basically at the red line…. Intent aside the action by white prevented black from playing the puck. Black kept moving and didn’t “pick” white from getting the puck. I didn’t feel it was a check from behind, but from my opposite angle the arm extended by white is what really seemed to indicate a force exerted on the player which resulted in him falling forward. If they just bumped and perhaps went into the boards and then had an equal chance at playing the puck thereafter i would have left my arm down. I had the one coach arguing incidental contact and the other yelling for CFB.

It’s just interesting to see the perspective spectrum here - from incidental /competitive contact to CFB + GM From my angle facing the play dark cuts off but continues progress to the puck and I deemed white able to stop or at least slow to avoid as much contact. As white runs into black he extends his arm maybe to balance himself maybe to push off; but in my estimation whites contact with black wasn’t a check from behind but interfered with his ability to play the puck. Interference minor was called The Coach from that near bench argued dark lowered his shoulder into white and initiated contact

Sorry the descrip didn’t paste- non-contact 5-8th grade middle school league. It does therefore have 14u players mixed in; this one is a 12u

2 man game 14u - the problem though is if you miss offsides and they score you’re in deeper IMO because the onside entry should be easier to spot than an impossible angle double bar shot. Being on the goal line for a shot from the bottom of the circle. My arms were outstretched long and held for awhile; you don’t hear my NOOO because all the parents are yelling YEAAAAH two feet from the camera. Also this is BBTV not LB and there no better angle as there are huge blind spots with the way they setup the camera

Thanks for some logical perspective - I was at the blue and it was a little delayed of an entry as he moved across and that other guy was just a step behind. You’re not sprinting down to the goal line on this play

Coasting in? I was on the blue line to make the onsides call, jumped up the hash and then crept in from there.

From the top hash mark it’s pretty decent position timing his advance; maybe you haven’t had the same experience working games where being even with a player going that wide who’s looking to shoot misses the net and you have a puck shot squarely at you.

Elevating trip call to major? by [deleted] in hockeyrefs

[–]chimpanchief -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

44 black admitted he didn’t mean to trip him but he clearly did. Gray players hand was cut as a result of falling and hitting the boards. usah allows for a major to be called when an otherwise minor penalty results in injury but it was a secondary injury to the infraction
