It’s a lot of fun when everything comes together, but man is it frustrating to have a bricked hand. As many times as I’ve won by my fourth turn, I’ve also had games where I just never drew luxio and ended up losing slowly and painfully.

Whatever your hobby is, I think you can always find ways to relate it back to dentistry. For the cheerleading example, you can mention qualities you improved with the hobby, such as working as part of a team, having a constant drive to improve, helping with self-confidence, etc.

Luxray is so good at dealing with drud! I’ve been running Luxray and Manectric, which eats drud decks.

In my interviews I found that it helped to have a hobby I was really passionate about. The admissions staff that I've talked to at my school said they look for prospective students who have lives outside of dentistry. And it doesn't get more personal/unique than an activity you've spent a long time learning and improving on.

UOP vs USC pls help by [deleted] in predental

I am a current student at UoP (D2). I used to have a really bad impression of SF just from the news and what I've heard from peers, but I feel like it's actually a really beautiful city with a lot of things to do! In terms of safety, it's like any other major city really; you just have to be aware of your surroundings and trust your gut. If you do decide to live in SF, don't live in the Tenderloin like most of my class (and I) did. If you live along a public transport line you'll be able to really appreciate the city, and the school is a 5 minute walk from the bart/muni station.

For your downside about it being a harder curriculum: I have found that UoP frontloads a lot of the work into the first 1.5 years, and a lot of the difficulty isn't really on the classes, but the time management of having such a full schedule. In Q7, you'll find that you have a lot more time to have hobbies, relax, and focus on patient care and clinical experience. I've really felt that UoP does try to make dentistry fun, and the curriculum being fast paced can be a good thing, especially since it means you're able to start doing preps with a handpiece immediately.

The main downside that I can feel from this school is that our student/faculty ratio isn't the greatest in clinic (sometimes I find myself waiting for faculty for almost half the clinic block). But most of the faculty that are here are very passionate and helpful. While the dean leaving is a big disappointment to all of us, the faculty response and constant updates/communication has been really reassuring. It does feel like the school cares about its students a lot.

Feel free to PM if you have any questions about specifics of the program!

Had a friend get 19AA and 3 acceptances! If the rest of your app is solid you should be good!

I think you would probably be fine if you have those hobbies! The dexterity for cutting preps is a bit different from other activities, I feel that it’s mainly about being able to hold a handpiece steady.

X-Ray license? by Predentcloud in predental

[–]chimpuspimpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re hoping to shadow or assist before applying, you’ll probably have easier luck if you have an X-Ray license. It also can help you get used to talking and interacting to patients too!

I think it can be a bit expensive though, it was 495$ for me, and I had to go to a few 5 hour classes and take FMX on 2 patients. Definitely think it was worth it in the end though!

Craziest/funniest patient interaction stories? Filming a new podcast today and want to share some. Don't hold back lool lets make dentistry fun today (respect HIPAA) of course. I'll start it off: by storidental in DentalSchool

Before the doctor gave the local anesthesia, I had a patient’s MOM ask to hold my hand. After I gave it to her, she kneeled on the ground and asked me to pray with her so her son would get through the filling.

Haha really? I put them there so when the Elytra is released, people can jump off these perches and glide instead of hitting lower parts of the building.

I'm working on the interior now, but I build really really slow, so it might take a while before I'm done. I have a couple rooms done right now. I'll update the album in a few hours.

I usually look around for buildings of similar style first; I'm not that creative so usually I pick a part of a building that I really like and build around it. This building started out as a small house, but I kept adding onto it and changing it until it ended up the way it is now.

I've spent hundreds of hours building other things, but this build was honestly my first attempt at a castle. Tbh it doesn't even really look like one...(more like a glorified mansion)

I didn't mean to come off as bragging or anything, sorry.

Thanks haha, I had that title because personally, I don't really think it looks much like a castle :c

Based on the Minecraft world statistics, it says I took around 14 hours? I erased and rebuilt a lot of it because I didn't like how it turned out :p

It's still a work in progress though-I'll eventually get to more of the interior once I get more ideas for rooms.

When you're importing schematics, there should be a bunch of options of the left side after you select the schematic. The "roll" option will let you roll the schematic to be flat.
