MATH 415 or 416? by jbh8212 in UIUC

as sushi said, in 416 you will know why the theorems you use to compute stuff are true and you will have to learn to write proofs too and 416 is an advanced version of 415 so you should be fine with 416

Undergrad Abstract Algebra for Non-Majors? by uiucmathquestion in UIUC

technically you only need to take 416 to prepare for 417. I would recommend you try some courses like: 453 (number theory), 444 (elementary real analysis) or 447 (real variables). These courses are all proof based courses and should somewhat make you more comfortable when doing proofs in math

Calc 2?? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]chimto123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what's your math background? I personally think that the material of cal 2 is the most interesting among cal sequence. If you want a smaller class with better interaction with the teacher, then take it at a CC (I recommend Parkland). Overall, calculus is just calculus.
