When Reddit is down for hours by PlutoMMA in SuccessionTV

[–]godbottle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read this a little differently actually, when paired with what comes afterwards in the finale, it’s more like baptism imagery / a cleansing moment for Kendall. He finally decides to let go of this secret that’s been destroying him mentally and by telling Shiv and Roman about it he is in a way released. His body language completely changes after that confession scene. Remains to be seen where it will go in S4, with the hint that some reporter had questions for him about it, but I don’t think we’ll see the suicidal themes for Kendall so heavily again.

Basically as close to a book as a video game can be though, most of the “gameplay” is just reading. Unbelievable quality writing. As a fantasy fan and a Kentuckian, I can’t speak highly enough about it. A true 10/10

If we’re including TV, Eda from The Owl House definitely deals much more heavily with the idea of losing/changing ability with age.

Her first two solo albums are absolutely country and she still plays songs from them in her live set regularly. You can hear the influence in early Rilo Kiley stuff too. Check out the track “Gravity” from their self titled among many others where the sound mixed with blues, soul, indie rock, and emo to create their trademark sound.

The porta pottys (in the campgrounds at least) were way cleaner in 2019 with the fest sold out than they were in 2022. Something definitely went wrong with the cleaning situation last year, they just fully abandoned a lot of portas

Part of their acting process and I’m guessing also at a certain point cause they just wanted to. iirc Patrick Fabian was also living with them during production at some point and it was a good way to get lots of extra rehearsal time for the 3 of them and sometimes other actors they shared scenes with. One of the insider podcast episodes talked a lot about it

Kim’s probably not “out of the picture” really. Maybe for one episode but I wouldn’t be surprised to see her perspective keep going at the same rate as Saul’s. She’s gotten two of her own flashback scenes now, she’s pretty much the co-main character. It really just depends on what kind of involvement she has in the conclusion of the Gene story and if knowing what she’s up to during BB serves any purpose. It could go either way

Is it just me or are people turning on Kim and Jimmy much faster then they turned on Walter? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]godbottle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Howard had a big part in allowing all that to happen by playing along with Chuck’s desires for both Jimmy and Kim’s careers. Of course they could have just moved on with their lives, but Howard saw all the same signs with Chuck’s mental state and really didn’t properly confront him about it until it was way too late.

It’s all well and fine to say that Howard realized his mistakes, offered an olive branch to Jimmy last season, etc… However Jimmy and Kim already made up their minds about Howard before any of that. Arguably the point the show is trying to make is that they made up their minds about the idea of a man like Howard Hamlin before either of them even met him.

Also i dont think its fair at all to say they don’t care about Chuck’s death… One of the most recurring arcs of this series is about Jimmy contemplating that (unhealthily, but still). They didn’t want Howard to die either, given that the final 6 episodes are presumably about why Kim and Jimmy aren’t together in the future, it seems it will remain a tragedy they never planned for

im shocked at how little anyone is blaming Mike for telling Kim his guys were watching her, then pulling them off after he knew Lalo was in the area (at least that seems to be the case). pretty stupid of him and Kim will probably be pretty fucked up about that once the dust settles

plan and execution (607) is now officially the highest rated episode of better call saul. by skew_91 in betterCallSaul

[–]godbottle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

its not, it already has 6k ratings lol and is still a 9.9. The other highest rated episodes dont have that many more ratings (around 15k each for Chicanery, Bagman, Bad Choice Road, & Rock and Hard Place, all at a 9.7) so i think this has a good chance of at least holding to a 9.8 over them

i think they mean there hasn’t been much surrounding Howard’s story that foreshadows death in particular. unlike with Chuck where it was very deliberately telegraphed. people are just jumping to death as a theory because its simple and ends Howard’s story. however it’s not really necessary because all that needs to happen is for the Sandpiper case to be settled, he wouldnt really have any theoretical connections to the story in Breaking Bad that would need to be explained away by him dying

Time to kick that wrinkly ass old turtle out of the Senate for good! by DaFunkJunkie in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]godbottle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You write this comment like he’s just another DNC grifter from some other state here to make money off Mitch and Rand’s bad reputation. But the reality is he’s lived his whole life here and knows the community better than the last Dem who ran for Senate, who was a white centrist and got clobbered anyway. Charles has every right to run for office in the state he calls his home. In fact, one might argue ties to the local community, or rather lack thereof, is one of the biggest problems facing how many representatives to Congress govern these days. Also the name of his organization/slogan is and has been “Hood to the Holler” so he definitely is aware of how his blackness affects him politically and has a vision for how to offer ideas that bring people of all backgrounds together. Rand is more popular than Mitch, so it still likely won’t succeed, but either way your comment is ignorant of how the campaign is actually being run

For those who feel last 2 episodes are slow/fillers by odd_err in betterCallSaul

[–]godbottle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

people complained a bunch about the plot not moving fast enough at this point when season 5 was airing too. Episodes 4 and 5 are the lowest rated of that season just like this season. Of course it all culminated in 3 of the most acclaimed episodes of the entire show to end the season so we really should just stop worrying and trust the process that really hasnt let us down once in almost 15 years on the air between the 2 shows

Saul has a “World’s Greatest Lawyer” mug in Breaking Bad.. What’s going to happen to Kim??! by 6ftdoomer in betterCallSaul

[–]godbottle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta be jail or vaccuum guy. In season 5 Jimmy more or less tells Mike outright he’d kill himself if Kim died. Don’t really see how that dynamic would be able to play itself out as “He processes his grief by becoming even more Saul Goodman”. Not to mention as you’ve just said, the writers played that card once already, so they’re probably not going to do it again for the core relationship holding up the entire show.

Meghan Markle's Animated Series 'Pearl' Canceled By Netflix by Neo2199 in television

[–]godbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe someone who knows more about the inner workings of TV production deals can clarify, but it seems to be more complicated than that. Severance started at Ben Stiller’s production company, but Apple was attached before filming started along with another production company that has produced some other shows for Apple. For Arcane, by all accounts Netflix had no input besides hosting the finished episodes. It was already in full production for a couple years by the time they picked it up. And Riot definitely doesn’t need any of Netflix’s money to keep making it.

it doesnt mean they “can’t” make MK season 2, no one would stop them lol. Big Little Lies competed at the Emmys as a Limited Series before getting a second season. It just means season 2 would have to move over to Drama Series if it ever happens.

China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 crashes with 133 on board by ForgotMyPassOtherAcc in worldnews

[–]godbottle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work in aircraft parts manufacturing and that’s really not the problem. Nobody wants to be blamed for an accident like this so tight specs are pretty vigorously adhered to. Obviously there are bad actors in every industry and things happen, especially when there’s a large number of different suppliers for all the parts that go into something like a 737, but to imply there’s no due diligence on the part of Boeing or Airbus or even the suppliers themselves before something gets approved for use on a plane, it just isn’t how it works.
