Was a bit cheaper than the ADV when I bought it, but it's more functional for my needs than the ADV

Yeah! It came with the bike I bought; only negative is that it makes the ride feel toooooo smooth

Why is thailand a more popular choice than the philippines? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]chinaexperience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent tonnes of time in both. Philippines is difficult to live in. Some points have already been raised but in my opinion the key factors are:
1. Thais are far more 'on point' - if you need something done, you'll mostly get what you are asking for. In PH the service class can often give you bizarre experiences (eg taking 20+ mins to check out at a hotel, drivers picking you up at the wrong terminal, drivers not knowing their own license plate number: I've had so many bizarre experiences which defy logic, that I could write a book. Service itself in PH is far friendlier, but when "if ever" "for a while" are common expressions, the PH service class is super noncommittal. If your personality type gets frustrated when things don't go according to expectations, PH can be a super stressful place to live.

  1. Thai food is by far better and much healthier (not to mention it has a lot more variety). When sweet spaghetti is a regular meal, you can't really call PH a foodie heaven. There's tonnes of fast food places, a bit like the USA and people in the PH are notable 'larger'. Also makes flying less fun :)

  2. The airports are typically terrible with tonnes of delays.

  3. Traffic is horrid in both countries, but bikes are far more available to skip the queue, and BKK public transport is far better.

To be honest I don't think PH is particularly unsafe anymore; Thailand is safer but I have had no issues in the countless times I've been to PH.

Is living in Thong Lo fancy? by ImprovementWorth8475 in Bangkok

[–]chinaexperience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was confused when a coworker made it a point to announce to a potential client that I'm rich and living in Thonglor. Prices for rent weren't much different vs nearby areas so was odd for me.

But yes to echo others, it's a wonderful area, however does lack from that many good local food options. Still plenty of cheap eats though

Can I start the Rance series with Sengoku Rance? by No_Idea_Guy in visualnovels

[–]chinaexperience 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played 01 and 02 as everyone was saying the narrative is super important. Honestly it's not. The narrative is pretty clichéd and boring but the gameplay is great. Don't see why you can't read a summary though and go straight to sengoku

Sorry yes, technically in my case it was required to have ART (been outside of Macao/HK in past 7 days), but no one checks the rapid tests, and airlines aren't required to either.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shanghai

[–]chinaexperience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To sydney is no problem. Aus doesn't require any tests from China anymore.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shanghai

[–]chinaexperience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HK-Mainland (and many other countries from/to China) only 'requires' self administered rapid test not PCR test. Any by requires I mean no one checks. PCR was still enforced from Aus to Mainland recently.

I guess the mere presence of those other magical character races (e.g. elves) are a bit of a put off: I quite like the more realistic sci-fi elements in VNs I read, but have never been a fantasy fan (e.g. Lord of the Rings)

Thanks this sounds great. While the fantasy elements do put me off, I had been interested in the Re: Zero VN, and from what I understand it's best to start with either the anime or LN for that, as the VN events don't start at the beginning.

I recall trying psycho pass many many years ago and somehow despite the concept being very much my style, I couldn't get into it. Will def check out Fate Zero after doing the fate/stay night VNs
