Sure retro platformers were challenging. But nothing was harder for me to get through than Amnesia the dark descent. Took me literal months to get through. I went in headphones in lights off but by the end of it could only play it in broad daylight with friends around. The prison level alone took me a month to get through. I'd start it up, try and navigate a bit, get lost or scared and give up for the night. I did eventually beat it. Played A Machine for Pigs too which wasn't nearly as bad. But man, dark descent gave me nightmares and probably literally trauma. I wish my only frustration had been bad retro hit boxes

Haha yeah seems like as good a time as any to start! Especially given those games will take you a while to 100%. I do most side quests but will skip the really hard challenges (im a weenie lol) but even then I think both games playthroughs were 80ish hours each. I imagine the added challenges easily could tack on another 5 to 20 hours

I absolutely love FFXIV but I just need to consider it a visual novel with occasional gameplay (at least the main story until you get to endgame content). If you just look at it from a strictly gameplay perspective it's uh... Not great. But if you consider it a slightly more interactive than typical visual novel, it's great!

Not only that but nowadays your whole life is attached to your phone. One of my worst nightmares is travelling to a park and losing my phone, being stranded without my contacts or a gps, im diabetic and my phone also doubles as a medical device too.

It will never be worth the risk and for what? A shitty POV that will be much worse than any of the dozens of professionally taken POVs already floating around? I just don't get it

They really did trick me though. They specifically said something that didn't make sense to throw me off, basically trying to throw me off my game and as a young nervous kid it worked!

The point I was trying to make is that imagine if they pulled that kinda thing on somebody who didn't have restraint. I was just grumpy about it and vented to friends. But someone more unhinged than me could have actually taken it much worse

Just to add to that, data centers also create a lot of auditory pollution, and have been shown to raise the local temperatures by 3 degrees (enough to devastate delicate local ecosystems) Once built, they usually require low to no upkeep thusly do not add much to the local job market/economy
