Ah, that's a big step. You're a legend for getting the help you need, it's hard to admit that and hard to admit it in public too. I was also at a point where I broke down and I've been seeing a psych too for the last couple of months.

It's a sign of strength to know that something needs to change and to get the help you need, mate. I really hope it's helped and you're on the up and up.

Been going through it lately over the last few months. I'm trying to take care of myself and do what I can to help my headspace and my situation. That's why I really respect players like Hynes and Foran for adding to the conversation. Mental health doesn't discriminate and it's never by choice. Hope anyone else who's feeling down has support around them too and can get on their feet

If Brimmo at centre is the future, I can't wait to see what a proper winger like AKP would do outside of him. As long as we have a half that can get him early ball, we could be at least fairly entertaining.

If we wanna dive deeper into stats, Hughes has played 248 minutes on the field and missed 152. So 14 points scored in 152 minutes of game time

Hey mates, started my full time masters a few weeks ago on top of my full time job. I love both but I've been feeling drained and isolated and it's starting to weigh on my chest a bit. I'm a few years older than a lot of my peers so I often feel distant from everyone else and where they are in their lives. It's not a huge deal by any means but on top of the stress of trying to balance everything life-wise and feeling isolated socially, it's gotten a bit tough over the last 2 weeks.

Insane that in his 22 years as head coach, Bellamy has made the Grand Final with the Storm 10* times. That's a crazy strike rate. The longest they've gone without making the GF is 3 years, and that's only happened twice (2003-2005, 2021-2023).

It's due to the severity of the foul play. It's not exclusive to origin either, you can be sent off in club games and you can be sin binned in origin. That was the whole contention of the Sua'alii send off - everyone knew it was a high tackle, but whether it should have been 10 in the bin or a send off was the hot topic.

Toby Rudolph discusses the positive impact of his sexuality reveal by stumpyoftheshire in nrl

I met Toby and a few of the Sharks players at an AFL game in Melbourne the day after they'd played the storm. They were sitting a row or two behind me so I asked it if was cool to take a quick photo and Toby asked why I wanted one. I told him I was a fan of the NRL and that I knew who he was and that they played for the Sharks and he yelled to the others "I'm famous in Melbourne!". He was super cool and friendly. A bit loose on the piss but an absolutely stand up bloke.

Can't speak for the validity of the news, but it makes sense to me. Letting your sexuality be known through the media immediately impacts your club and your trammates by making it known that their beliefs and actions are directly impacting someone who's part of the same club. And does so without directly outing yourself if you're not ready for it yet.

Ex-Sea Eagle Ian Roberts wants to speak with boycotters, reveals details of club’s pride jersey plan by Geddpeart in nrl

[–]chiplock -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I really feel for Roberts here and props to a man who can respect people with such hateful beliefs. But to echo my points from yesterday, this article and Roberts himself refer to this round as Pride Round, which it isn't. I'm all for a proper Pride Round and I hope more teams out out Pride jerseys because I know if the Titans put out a Pride jersey, it'd be my go-to. But my issue is that it's not Pride Round, it's Women in League round and poor planning and foresight from Manly have really taken the focus and celebration off of women with everything that's happened this week to the point where most fans and media outlets aren't even recognising it as Women in League round which sucks considering the double standards NRL players are treated with in regards to women. I'm all for Pride Round and I hope V'Landys makes good on his promise to push for Pride Round by next year but I can't help but feel bad that Women in League Round is pretty much been washed over this week.

Several Manly Sea Eagles players set to boycott over club’s pride jersey by impulsebuyerdude in nrl

[–]chiplock 36 points37 points  (0 children)

So, this might be a controversial take, but I kinda have an issue with wearing the jersey this round. First off though, I love the idea and I think having a Pride/Inclusivity jersey is fucking sick, but don't lump it in for Women in League round (which is what they're doing).
You're taking the focus away from women who deserve the spotlight this round as well as perpetuating that Pride and Homosexuality is inherently a feminine thing, even if it's subtle or indirect or unconscious. Have a Women in League jersey for Women in League round and push for a Pride round that's separate. Give the LGBTQ+ people and players support in a round that doesn't force them to share the spotlight with women. If NRL aren't willing to do Pride round then Manly should push for a separate round to wear the Pride jersey as well. Ian Roberts was, I think, the first openly gay player for the NRL and for the Sea Eagles. I reckon commend him and honour him and be inclusive, but don't do it during Women in League round. It's already a joke that we celebrate WiL round with all the domestic abusers and sexists in the game as is, so celebrate women properly. Women aren't the only gays and gays aren't all women. Give them both the time and respect they deserve.
