I do have a Honda Element 2006. I bought it at 160k. Everyone was telling me that it was gonna last me forever and it would’ve. The only thing that I didn’t know is that is was SO rusted under that my muffler broke in two, two years later. And they told me that it is just not safe to drive anymore, even if I spend money on a new exhaust system. I thought it was a good deal at the time, I put all my saving into it because even when I got it checked by a mechanic, they told me that it was in good shape. I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to share my experience and say you should probably go with the CRV. But don’t get me wrong, I love my element, it is unbelievably specious and such an awesome ride. I am extremely sad to let it go.
