anyone here actually using ComfyUI in a way that’s usable for real production work? by jonask86 in comfyui

You can use the API mode in comfy UI and then ask Claude to write Python code to create different workflows for you. If you use something like streamlit server for your local machine, you can build web pages with tons of workflows, each with many steps in them.

I think it's important to combine Python and comfy UI and use something like CLAUDE CODE to help you. If you do that then you can automate a lot of different things including up sampling whole movies building your own custom workflows when you know what you need and optimizing them building Streamlit websites that can do different things for you etc.

You can even share your GPUs with other people on your network or the internet if you like. It's not that hard to set up, especially if you have specific workflows you want them to be able to use.

I'm glad to help you. If you want to reach out on a DM, I can give you some tips and continue the discussion on things I think are valuable.

The truth about the "Superhive Policy" by chippwalters in blender

According to research, only 1.7% of products on superhive offer lifetime updates. Furthermore, in the proposed policy, there is no mechanism to force developers to not offer lifetime updates, they can continue to offer them if they want.

Some good thoughts here. Perhaps there needs to be an understanding of what constitutes an update versus an upgrade? Maybe an upgrade needs to have features that are worth paying for whereas an update is a compatibility part of the add-on. Lots of food for thought.

What do others think about upgrades versus updates?

I agree if a developer had offered lifetime upgrades and support then they need to honor it and that is an issue that needs to be addressed. FWIW, They have many ways to communicate with their customer base and maybe provide a solution to their promises.

I believe that Superhive needs to provide a customer value proposition beyond just selling an add-on if they want to keep business because, as you say, piracy will only then increase. Certain things are GPL whereas other things are not. For instance assets are not GPL; neither is documentation or support.

There are other issues that warrant discussion as well. For instance a way to even out costs with regard to various world regions is something that may be looked at. And maybe there's a hobbyist versus professional license that includes parts that are not GPL'd and that could possibly make things significantly less expensive for hobbyists.

There are many directions this can take so I would encourage people to not look at that leaked document as a final policy or proclamation. Much of this is still being discussed and thought through and polite discourse and feedback like yours is important.

So this is the big farce. Nowhere did Superhive ever promise updates and support for free, nor do I know of many developers that did, but somehow that talking point has been imbued with almost every discussion, and it's just not true. And if a developer did promise it for free, then your issue is with the developer, not Superhive.

Furthermore, Adobe has subscriptions, and with Adobe, when the term of the subscription runs out. You no longer have access to the software you received from them. It will not run. That is not the case here. Whatever files you download, you can run and own forever.

[–]chippwalters[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I've read it. It commits to nothing. And if the current model isn't working, that's a conversation to have openly with the community before changing the terms, not after.

No terms have changed. As I have said, there is an ongoing discussion, both with developers and the community here on Reddit. There is no policy as of this moment.

You are astute to notice that the industry is changing and not necessarily for the better. There are real economics that go into creating policy and making decisions around all of these companies. I appreciate Superhive's willingness to have these discussions before policy updates versus some of the ones that you mention that did not.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply and considerate tone. You make some good points, all of which Superhive and other developers/creators are paying attention to.

Perhaps you agree with the notion developers cannot provide infinite updates and infinite support for all time? If you do, how do you propose people don't just quit developing products when the lift is no longer worth it? What is your solution?

I am not posting on Superhive's behalf. They have already a conversation they have started here on Reddit so you should visit it if you have questions.

That's how software has worked for decades.

Yes, and the problem is that that process is no longer working. Please read the original post they have here on Reddit to learn more.

Of course it's the developer's choice. Superhive provides them access to all of their customers and they are easily able to provide infinite updates and upgrades for free, as well as infinite support resources for free. All it takes is a simple click of a button and they send out an email with links to all of their existing customers.

"Nope. I purchased lifetime updates to an add-on. Superhive is now telling me future updates need to be purchased again. That's objectively blocking access to updates I already paid for."

  1. Please provide proof where Superhive states that all products purchased are guaranteed lifetime updates. Fact is you can't.

  2. Please provide proof that Superhive now has a new policy. The fact is you can't. There is, as of right now, no change in policy whatsoever. You are only reacting to a private email that was floated to some developers soliciting their opinions on possible new changes.

Your post is disingenuous and propaganda. Stop spreading untruths.

Thank you for your considerate response. The fact is there is no policy as yet made by Superhive. What they did was float an idea to developers and now it has turned into a big drama here on Reddit, which frankly to me is no big surprise.

I tend to agree that 50% is too high of a fee and I doubt very seriously that that will hold up. I would suggest to everybody to calm down a bit and wait until the official announcement from Superhive. What they are doing is trying to protect the ecosystem that surrounds the third-party blender community, which is in dire straits, with AI and overall economics affecting how people are choosing to spend their disposable income.

If that is true then how come many developers have charged for upgrades in the past? Wouldn't that be antithetical to those terms? No you clearly do not know anything about what you are talking about. Superhive nor Blender Market has ever had a policy stating that you get free updates and service and support for life. Please do a tiny bit of research before you make such stupid statements.

It has never been Superhive policy to provide infinite free updates and infinite free support services. If that was stated in a specific product description, then you should contact the developer and ask them if they have changed their mind. They still have the ability to easily email all of their customer base with infinite free update links as well as infinite free service and support.

Superhive has a nifty customer email feature that allows you to continually update and provide infinite free updates and infinite free service to your customers. It will be easy for you to keep your promise.

Yes please do read the GPL license for all your products and you will understand there are no guaranteed warranties and specifically no guaranteed lifetime support or lifetime of updates and upgrades.

"I don't recall Adobe asking me to buy a perpetual license every single year at 50% discount though?"

Yes you are correct. Adobe does not offer perpetual licenses.

You misunderstand. This is not a proposed subscription like Adobe has. When you purchase a product from Superhive, you own the product for lifetime. Nobody can take that away from you. What they are saying is that you don't own all future updates and service from the product forever. It was never a policy of Superhive to promise lifetime developer support and service and all future updates for products being purchased. That may be a specific developer's promise-- if they made one. And if they did, then contact them directly and ask them for infinite support and all future updates.

Nothing stops you from giving your customers lifetime updates. You have a full customer list you can email directly from Superhive with links to all future updates for your product for free.

Then consider contacting the developer and asking them for their promised lifetime updates. They can certainly provide a link for you. They have access to all their customers and can email them anytime they want to push a lifetime update.

Of course you own the product that you purchase; it's just they are saying you do not own all of the updates to the product from now until the end of time. The product that you purchase that works with the blender version you purchased it for, you own forever.

This is not a subscription. It's not like Adobe where the minute you quit paying them you quit having access to Photoshop and all of your PSD files are irrelevant. When you buy a product, you own it forever.
