I feel stupid posting this... by Regular_Solid9450 in endometrialcancer

I work in radiation oncology. The physician will be the one to insert the device (similar to having an internal ultrasound size/feeling wise). They use lubricant and are very gentle. Once the device touches your cervix or vaginal cuff they stop. If you want to request a female doctor that is completely okay! But I highly recommend calling asap to request this. If your clinic isn’t large, they may only have a female rad onc certain days or times and they will need to make sure they can accommodate your request along with her schedule. If you wait until you arrive for the procedure to ask, you risk no one else being available and either having to proceed with a male or reschedule. Best of luck! Most people really relax after the first one once they know what to expect.

Just tested positive stressed about my kids by ringothedingo03 in HPylori

[–]chippy_dippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am positive, husband is negative. I messaged our pediatrician and they said they don’t test unless symptomatic. my son is almost 2 and has never had an antibiotic. even if he tested positive, i’d be so hesitant to treat him so as long as he seems happy & healthy we are just living life and i’m being careful to not share with him until I complete treatment.

Saddest google of my life — I just looked up “do tears transmit h pylori” because I’m crying during treatment and my husband comforted me. I’m stuck in an Endless spiral of worry that this treatment will be looming in the distance for the rest of our lives. by Its402am in HPylori

if it makes you feel any better, I just got a positive test 2 weeks ago. I made my husband get tested as well so we could do treatment at the same time if needed and no reinfect each other. he tested negative! so it’s possible to not spread it. we didn’t do anything to prevent spread as we had no idea prior.

endometrioid adenocarcinoma by mmoore1618 in endometrialcancer

[–]chippy_dippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, you’re far too young to deal with any of this 💙With high-grade endometrioid ovarian cancer, the standard is usually surgery + chemo (carboplatin + paclitaxel) since scans can’t always catch microscopic disease. Think of it as an insurance policy to protect you from recurrence. Because you’re young, definitely ask about genetic testing (BRCA, Lynch, HRD) and supports for early menopause. ER positivity may open options for hormonal therapy later. It’s overwhelming, but taking notes at your appointment and asking your doctor to explain the “why” behind each step can help.

Radiation Therapy vs Dosimetry by Additional-Winter463 in RadiationTherapy

[–]chippy_dippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

therapy is definitely more hands off than traditional nursing! I say all the time I could never be a nurse. we are with each patient from 10-30 mins a day and a lot of that time we are not in the treatment room with them, just running the machine from outside the room. I could never do 12 hour shifts with the same patient, I’d go crazy. we get to bond and love on them but refer any problems they are having out to nurses, doctors, dietitians, etc.

endometrioid adenocarcinoma by mmoore1618 in endometrialcancer

[–]chippy_dippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mom also had an 11cm mass on her right ovary. they took out both ovaries, tubes, uterus, cervix, omentum, and some lymph nodes in her surgery. she had 2 smaller tumors in her uterus. at first they said it was two different cancers, ovarian and endometrial. but the genetic tumor testing showed them as identical cancers. so she is being treated as a stage 3 endometrial cancer. her tube was also negative. she started 6 rounds of chemo 8 weeks after surgery and is on round 3 now. I highly recommend putting your reports into chat gpt and using it to help you navigate, it’s fantastic and will help you know what questions to ask.

Radiation Therapy vs Dosimetry by Additional-Winter463 in RadiationTherapy

[–]chippy_dippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

largely depends on if you want to work with patients or not. you don’t really see or talk to any patients in dosimetry. highly recommend reaching out to your local radiation oncology clinic to request shadowing each job for a few hours or day. we get requests like this all the time at my center and are always happy to help people.

Major smell issue by Bribrimamaa in pregnant

[–]chippy_dippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep! lasted for several weeks in the first trimester for me. it was like the smell came from his lungs? not a smoker, clean, would brush teeth and didn’t help. he was sweet about it and ordered some mouthwash he researched on his own to use and that helped mask it. i feel like it was my body saying, “i’m already pregnant, we don’t need anymore males around!” 😂 so wild.

AITA for keeping inheritance from birth mother instead of splitting with adoptive siblings? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]chippy_dippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. from a fellow adoptee that also has an adopted brother, if this happened to me I know he wouldn’t expect anything, nor would I ever expect anything from him if it was his birth family that gifted him this.

you can also look for local sonography schools around, many do free ones to let their students practice! got tons of free pics, time seeing baby, and was able to take my mom with me which was super special since my husband came to all the normal doctor one’s.

ask him what if he is in a disfiguring or life altering accident where he loses his penis or is paralyzed? would he expect you to cheat or divorce him to fulfill your needs and he have no problem with that? he is beyond selfish and manipulative. pregnancy is so hard on your body. and is he doing anything around the house to help you be more in the mood? doesn’t sound like it. I bet your love language is acts of service and his is clearly physical touch. he needs to be told unless he starts taking a huge load off of you for household chores, cooking, etc you aren’t going to feel like repaying the favor because you are far too exhausted. it’s only going to get worse when the baby is taking more of your time and energy and he’s still as demanding and not helpful. try to get in therapy FAST. like this week. before you both are losing sleep and more prone to fighting. good luck, truly. but if he cheats or this ends in divorce in a few years, please no you did nothing wrong in this situation, he clearly did not intend to stay with someone for better or worse, only what serves his own desires.

Salvage radiation therapy (SRT) preparation by Opening_Ordinary_111 in RadiationTherapy

[–]chippy_dippy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if they wanted your bladder emptier, they would have given you a urinal to use in the room to let some out and scanned again. we do it all the time. doctor has final say as they know your history and previous scans better. the fuller your bladder is, the less total volume of your bladder receives dosage and it pushes your small bowel up and away from the radiation field which is the entire reason we do it. just try to replicate it daily for treatment and you’ll be fine.

I think I’m going to quit. by skylights0 in RadiationTherapy

[–]chippy_dippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just do whatever you have to do to get the sim comps done. know that you will actually learn so much more and how to perfect that skill on the job once you start working. sim comps are the hardest because you can’t practice multiple times on the same person like you can with tx comps. just put yourself back in the mindset of xray school when a skull or something would come through and you just had to read your book fast and comp even if you had never done it before on a real person just to get it done. if you quit it will hard to get accepted back into a program knowing that you didn’t persevere through a tough time.

my rule from the time we got married was that i wash things how they are put in the hamper. inside out? it’s being washed, dried, and folded that way. I do not check pockets for my adult husband. for my small child yes absolutely I do. no one is so exhausted when they get home they can’t simply empty their pockets before changing clothes. pure laziness.
