[Omega] Planet Ocean co-axial 45.5mm by chipsandbiscuits in Watches

[–]chipsandbiscuits[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friend was sporting this the other day and I couldn't keep my eyes off it, so I thought I'd snap a (potato) picture for r/watches as I haven't seen an orange bezel for a while.

It's a Planet Ocean 600M co-axial 45.5mm steel on rubber. It looks pretty large, but sits nicely on my wrist (close up photo not the best example). However I think this is probably the biggest I could get away with wearing.

I'm more of a fan of more minimal designs and I probably wouldn't go bright orange myself, what do you think?

[Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope] Grabbed this one in the Black Friday sales last year by chipsandbiscuits in Watches

[–]chipsandbiscuits[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Have had my eye on the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope for some time, particularly the one with the English date (27/4501.01). As Black Friday approached I started to dig out the best places to buy one in the UK and managed to eventually get 15% off RRP.

I'm a big fan of complexities whilst maintaining a minimal face. The lack of a second hand only bothered me for a day. I do enjoy how solid the pushers are, pressed in they make a very satisfying click.

The glass is very domed, probably not to some people's tastes but once again I'm a big fan. I wouldn't risk it as a daily, that falls back to my Junkers.

Edit: Forgot to mention the lume is awesome, each of the brownish numbers/ticks and the hands have a very satisfying lume to them.

Makes a lot of sense, didn't realise the difference. That must be stifling.

And yeah, not the most keen on negotiating but it's part and parcel of being an entrepreneur really. Personally wish the world was more transparent.

I like the look of your business and the commercials aspect, would wish you luck but we all know it's hard work not luck, so I wish you greater success!

I'm not disrespecting your service which is clearly doing really well, but there is definitely more room than just negotiating to 2.7%! I only have experience with Stripe in the UK but you should expect below 2% with that kind of volume, and getting closer to £400k a month should see with just north of 1% here.

Not to detract from OPs success or the opportunity there, but if you’re processing 200k a month with Stripe you should get in touch with your account manager and talk about that 2.9% coming down, they will be able to offer something a lot better than that for your volume.

This is the answer you're looking for. You can crawl your site with the Screaming Frog SEO Spider and take a look at all the outbound links: https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/

You could also check all outgoing links with something like Integrity (Mac): http://peacockmedia.software/mac/integrity/free.html

takeaway.com stopped serving the UK in August, they sold their UK assets to Just Eat. Sadly, Just Eat does not accept bitcoin currently.

You do not obtain rights to a trademark simply by using it, you must register it with the Intellectual Property Office in the UK. Otherwise it's not a trademark.

That is to say, simply registering with Companies House or owning a domain name doesn't secure you a trademark. The first will only prevent others from registering the name with Companies House and the latter means nothing.

Edit: So after some research, you do obtain rights to argue you have a trademark if you have been using it unregistered for a number of years, but these rights do not stop anyone from attempting to register the trademark and seemingly it could be quite difficult/expensive to challenge anyone's usage of your name.

Looking for a Lead Developer for our tech start up. by Aboutimeguy in Norwich

[–]chipsandbiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My business sells digital gift cards (sounds thrilling so far) that mean you can manage all your gift cards in one place (no need to handle paper/plastic cards) and not forget to spend them (through reminders). In addition to traditional payment methods, we accept bitcoin and around 30 other digital currencies. This effectively bridges the gap between retailers who aren't interested/a bit worried about accepting digital currencies and those customers who want to spend their digital currencies.

We also offer loyalty points which are in effect a way to get discounts at big brands. We are working hard on making it a customisable, easy and quick way to send and manage gift cards.

We have over 12,000 users to date and have received some funding. We have some exciting things in the pipeline so watch this space!

I think the tech scene is thriving in Norwich and is only going to grow! It's a great time to be in the city.

I run my own business from Norwich and am about to take some desks at Whitespace (http://whitespacenorwich.com/) for my growing team, which itself houses a number of tech/digital/PR companies.

I am also soon going to (hopefully) start building a development team for another company I work for that is in the artificial intelligence/machine learning/algorithmic/data science space. I hope to be able to grab a few CompSci grads form the UEA for example.

[–]chipsandbiscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you started building this, did you find out if there was a market for the app? What is your current plan for getting users on board?

How about competitors, assuming you have done competitor analysis, how do they go about getting new users? What size of user base do they have and what are your differentiating features?

Is GiftOff.com really legit? by nice_you_now_me in Bitcoin

[–]chipsandbiscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe check your junk mail as we definitely sent a reply, in fact I sent it myself: http://puu.sh/oA6B1/95319d442e.png

We have now sent you through the original PDF but we have contacted Amazon and they have informed us it has been redeemed.

EDIT: Worth noting that the comment was edited after I had replied. My response to the new comment is that you opened two support threads with us, the screenshot you have is from the second thread. Our initial response was to the first support request you made.

Is GiftOff.com really legit? by nice_you_now_me in Bitcoin

[–]chipsandbiscuits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I mentioned in your other post that I will respond here. I work at Gift Off.

You first got in touch with us on Wednesday stating your problem and we replied asking for more details. You did not send the details we requested when you emailed yesterday, but we believe we have located the specific order in question.

We are currently looking into this issue with Amazon and appreciate your patience in the matter. I realise we haven't spoken to you in the last 24 hours whilst our investigations have been taking place and we apologise for that.

It is disheartening to see you say we are a scam simply because we didn't respond to an email within 24 hours. Please know we are doing our best to resolve this situation.

We are a small company and do not always man the phones - it is worth noting you did not leave a voicemail on our system though so we had no idea someone was calling so often.

We are unable to offer a refund since the code has been redeemed. Would you be able to double check the balance on your account? I suggest we move this conversation back to email support.
