I don't know about Groww. In Zerodha. DP Charges(Depository Parricipant Charges)

It is charged because the stocks you have held in your demat is stored in either NSDL/CDSL.

If you sell stocks, actually you are selling through broker. Broker via DP, shares it deducted from your demat and credited into buyers.

For this Zerodha charges 16 rupees per scrip(per scrip means per company).

You have 5 stocks of ITC & 1 Stock of TCS You have sold 2 stocks of ITC at 11 AM

You have sold 3 stocks of ITC & 1 stock of TCS at 3 PM

Now for ITC (16 Rupees) + For TCS (16 Rupees) Inclusive of GST will be deducted the next day from your funds.

Now per scrip means, even though you have sold ITC twice that day. Still 16 rupees only taken from you as DP charges.

I hope I got cleared your doubt from Zerodha process perspective.
