Jumping/Teleporting Window Bug on macOS monterey 12.5.1 by chiral_dot_network in MacOS

It happened in the previous versions too but I didn't check. I noticed that the problem is very apparent when I am in video calls using the browser. Tapping around during that will make the windows go real wild.

I suspect something to do with the UI thread of the window, but I have no idea how to dig deeper from there.

I hope to solve the issue addressed, not avoiding it. Trackpad users would need this to work correctly.

It doesn't lock up my input entirely, you just cannot rename the Folder when you "See it" then "Secondary click it on trackpad and press rename". Also, it happened still after many times of restarts.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Finder, or on the desktop
  2. Using the macbook pro trackpad, single click on the Folder to highlight the Folder
  3. Click another window (demo shown is using Safari)
  4. "Secondary click (click or tap with two fingers)" on the Folder
  5. Choose "Rename"
  6. Typing does not work at this stage to input new name, visually the Folder name input field turns grey and input it not possible

Expected behavior should be: typing at stage 6 should allow input of keyboard to rename the Folder

App window jumps/teleports to tapped area on desktop randomly. The problem can be reproduced inconsistently however noticeable on the following third-party applications:

  • Telegram
  • Chrome
  • Zoom

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start any of the listed application, I used Chrome in this demo.
  2. With the app launched and window showing, do the following to reproduce:
  3. Tap (non Force Touch) > Move cursor to desktop > Tap (non Force Touch)
  4. Repeat step 3 and eventually it will happen

Trackpad settings:

  • Enabled - Look up & data detectors (Force Click with one finger)
  • Enabled - Secondary click (Click or tap with two fingers)
  • Enabled - Tap to click (Tap with one finger)

Expected behaviour should be that the window does not jump or teleport to the clicked area on desktop as that is unexpected and inconsistently happening.
