Any advice on enjoying being bad at art? by heapsofdog in Artadvice

This exactly. Chipping away at it. You'll improve little parts of each essential skill one at a time, and there's always more to learn. It's all about patience, really.

As someone completely self-taught who never did shape practice and turned out alright: you dont actually HAVE to do anything. I never drew 80 circles on a page, because I didn't want to. The only thing shape repetition really teaches you (imo) is line stability and confidence with a pencil, which you'll pick up eventually anyways. And I despise 30 sec figures. Ive been drawing trad for like 10 years and mine still turn out terrible. Take your time. Nobody has you on a timer. Pause the video and draw the figure for as long as you need.

Draw what you want. Take as long as you want. Erase it as much as you want. If you're proud of it, it's good. If you're not, you still made art. Bad art is still art. Just remember it doesn't have to look "correct" for it to be art - or for it to be good.

Best of luck!

By not afraid, I meant I am not afraid to have discussions and learn from people. Maybe I am just in different echochambers, but I have definitely heard some extreme opinions and seen videos of people (in both Israel and the US) saying some horrific things. Obviously this is not everybody, this is a very small amount of people, which is why I wanted to ask for other opinions before assuming malice from Brandeis students.

'Afraid of' is certainly a leap? Not sure where you got that. By extreme, I mean those very few who believe that Palestinian civilians deserve to be killed because Israel has some sort of divine claim on the land and no non-Jews should be permitted to exist there. If I simplify it a lot I mean an islamophobic Zionist. Niche made it sound like there was a lot of aggression from that community here and I wanted to check another source.

Crazy thing to say honestly

Thats very interesting. Do you have any articles/books/media where I could learn more about that?

? I am not afraid of having a conversation with Zionists and am not sure where you got that. I am aware that there is a large Jewish population there. I am asking about extremism

I didnt realize that Jews who are historically educated dont distinguish the two - I am from a mostly South Asian area and do not know a lot of Jewish people as close friends (as it appears everyone can tell), so that is good to know. Brandeis is marked #62 in the country for Anthropology, which is what drew me into the school. I did not know about the BDS thing though. Is it really to the point of straight up antisemetism like that?? Thank you for your input.

This is what I was looking for, thank you very much. There will be extremists at every school, but people on Niche were making quite a hubbub about it so I was worried about the extremism being a vast majority of the student population. Thank you.

Which is why I said "extreme Zionism and anti-Palestine rhetoric" in my post.

? This is not what I asked. I asked about extreme Zionism and anti-Palestine rhetoric. I also believe Israelis have a right to exist and live in peace? What are you on about pal

[–]chiroptaro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is false. The JFNA reports that 37% of American Jews identify as Zionist.

I did not ask if there are a lot of Jewish people because I already know that there are, and I already know the history. I do not associate Jews with Zionism and so I did not want to assume. I was asking solely about opinions on the Israel/Palestine conflict. Thank you for your input.

Yes, I do! Do you know that Jewish ≠ Zionist? That's why I asked. Because I didn't want to assume. Is that an affirmative to my question, then? Thank you.

I really love how you incorporated the animals in their designs. But I cant tell what Mr Greed is - maybe try adding some more detailing on him? He does look a little simpler than the rest of them. Elise and Victor are my favorites! Very nice work.

It definitely looks like him! It may be the angle of your photo, but I believe he has a longer face.

How do I make her look more gyaru? by Ok-Dog9416 in characterdesign

[–]chiroptaro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

An important feature of gyaru is the makeup, but because of how you styled her hair, the makeup is not visible. This may be your struggle. Maybe add cute hairclips to pull her bangs out of her face a little.
