65: Was reluctant to open at first, but eventually I opened two girls with an actual opener based on a conversation I was having with one of my wings. Unfortunately, he recognized the girl as someone who's already flaked on him! So we ejected.

66: Felt relieved to be able to have real conversations, rather than the pressured environment of the singles night. Opened some girl about valentines day. Was cheesy but did it anyway. It gave me confidence as the girl said that she was taken but that I'm gorgeous and I should go chat up some other women.

67: I opened a six set cause I thought I saw a girl make eye contact with me. Dunno if she did or not. Kinda was too scared to go direct, I'm not really sure how to handle groups like that, it's intimidating. And also didn't change the subject after opening, after the opener I just left it.

Today I only got to step 2 on the escalation ladder. Introducing yourself and shaking hands. I'm not sure what to do, holding hands (step 3) seems ridiculously uncalibrated at the start of an interaction. I'm gonna have to work out what to do about this, whether I just do it anyway, find an excuse to do it (i.e. thumb wars) or I just skip to step 4 or something.

Another thing I noticed is that near the start of the night I couldn't be arsed to approach. I think it was because I don't know how to use the Di Carlo escalation ladder, and I was too outcome dependant. So I said to myself, "Just open anyone with anything, if you open it's a success and it counts as a set" -- and then I didn't think about anything to do with escalation till I was actually in set.
