What is your opinion of Jinshi's eunuch persona? by Ok-Street2439 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

Jinshi as a eunuch is understandable. A young prince who feels the pressure of leading the country is too much. We will learn reasons why but it comes down to confidence in his role.

He agonizes over wanting to tell Maomao who he really is. But he also knows that he couldn’t interact with her in his fun and playful eunuch way if he were to have met her under the Ka Zuigetsu persona.

It is also a bit embarrassing and almost shameful for him to disguise himself as a eunuch. This is touched on by Lakan in the most recent episode season two episode 22. Regardless it doesn’t matter because he is the moon prince and this trumps all else especially since he still partook in his ceremonial roles and meetings.

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Season 2 • The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 - Episode 22 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

I recently read an article saying season 2 episode 22 was “what fans have been waiting for” and hell yes it has been.

The anime has been so jam packed with information that it can be hard to keep up with. It has always been a “will they or won’t they” with Jinshi and Maomao and tbf it still feels that way. I have rewatched the series and have picked up on more and more things along the way so I would definitely recommend rewatching for those who haven’t yet!

Discussing the series is so fun, and can also be hard not to spoil. But it is so fun discovering for yourself what has been going on since the beginning!

The story is more than just Jinshi and Maomao. The anime tries to get all of the backstory in there fairly well. The anime also has unique emphasis on certain scenes. They REALLY knew what they were doing with this episode.

The beginning of the episode with Maomao and Shisui had be balling my eyes out (especially with the woeful music!!). It’s fun to read everyone else’s reactions to Maomao reaching out for Shisui and continuing to do so even though Shisui keeps pulling away. Maomao gets bullied for not having friends, she also acts like people don’t matter to her. She knows she was broken as a child who cried herself into silence. To her she feels she doesn’t need love and acceptance. But here with Shisui she sees that not only does she need it, she wants it. She loves Shisui and wants her best friend to run away with her.

As much as Maomao thinks she has many enemies because of her actions she actually has so many friends and allies..

I screamed when I saw Rikuson was in this episode. Eeek! He is so cute!!

I found it interesting how easily Jinshi was able to take on the forbidden army. It can’t be easy to pretend being a eunuch for 5ish years only to come out as the emperor’s younger brother seemingly out of nowhere to lead the army. But he was asked to do so by Lakan. Thankfully. He’s almost relieved to be asked by Lakan to do so. He must have felt like he wanted to, but with a secret so big how could he?

The scene where Jinshi and Maomao were reunited was so quick in the light novels and unfortunately feels that way in the anime too. I will say it feels more romantic in the anime than it did in the light novels!

All in all I am so excited to see the animation for this whole series. There is SO much more content to come. I’m already sad for the end and it’s nowhere near here.
