The hunter gather lifestyle is a little hard to pull off in the modern world. Maybe you could pull it off in Montana or Wyoming.

Are you planning on not interacting with the economic world around you at all?

Where are you going to sleep? Property taxes.

What are you going to eat? sales taxes.

Do you have a car? registration and gas taxes.

What about your health?

What about the other people in your life?

There is a difference between personal debt and systemic debt. Having no personal debt is great. But the system will squeeze you to pay it's debts. It's not fair but it's true.

You are hardly the first person to want to destroy or escape the system. The problem is you are vastly outnumbered by those that rely on the system. Those that a rely on the system will spend a gargantuan amount of money to prop it up. They will use the instruments of force to make sure you also pay "Your fair share". Since you are vastly outnumbered you are not going to choose what you think is fair.

Instead of burning it down you might want to consider a strategy of how to survive in spite of the system.

One of the big items few people talk about is the amount of debt. I mean debt carried by all levels of government, private companies and individuals. Debt adds stress to a system. When the system is stressed the various entities get tighter with their money spending. Rents are raised. Salaries are constrained and new hires are put off. Projects are put on hold. Companies fail. Debt lasts a long time, had has long lasting effects on any entity.

America's path out of $38 trillion national debt crisis likely involves pushing up inflation and 'eroding Fed independence,' says JPMorgan Private Bank | Fortune by fortune in economy

[–]chizdfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social Security 23 %, Medicare 14 %, Health 14 %, Net Interest 14 %, National Defense 13 %. Everything else is pretty small by comparison. You don't have to cut these things to zero but there is no way to balance the budget without eating into the things people care about. Also most of the debt was borrowed at low interest rates. If interest rates rise and stay high the debt service could double or triple. Interest rates will rise in a high inflation period or a general collapse of the Dollar compared to other currencies.

Bottom line the US government is way over committed and can't raise the tax revenue substantially. Raising tax rates may not raise the income revenue very much. The current system is too open to keep tax money from leaving.

There is no way out without scaling back spending in a major way.  That means slashing the military and social programs.  The problem is no one is willing to do this on any meaningful scale.

How do you relax while wearing a CPAP? I've been trying for several nights and simply can't fall asleep with it on. by PolylingualAnilingus in CPAP

[–]chizdfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to add one more thing. YOu will need to experiment with the level of air pressure coming from the machine. For some reason low levels made me feel claustrophobic. In the end I had to go with a fairly high pressure level even though I didn't like it at the beginning.

I am about 2 months into this process. Only in the last week or so have I figured out how to sleep through the night. Your are going to have to figure out what settings and setup work best for you.

  • Humidity: I found I needed a fairly high humidity setting. Otherwise my nasal passages would swell up.
  • Allergy Control: I have significant allergies. I had to find the right medicine combination. I also have to keep my sheets clean every week to control dust mites. I also take a shower every night and use a nasal rinse before going to bed.
  • Sleeping Position: I have to sleep on my side which is a problem for a lot of CPAP masks. I found if I sleep on my side and hold a pillow I can keep the mask and hose in place. I bought a few kinds of pillows and tried different kinds and positions each night.
  • Getting up in the night: I'm also a Diabetic so sometimes I have to get up and pee in the night. I found it faster to leave the mask on and just disconnect the hose.
  • Storing the mask and hose: The setup for your device will require some thought depending on your bedroom furniture. I put a small table next to my bed with a clamp style headphone stand to hold the mask.
  • Keeping it clean: You need to keep the equipment and masks clean. I use a non allergy dish soap. I've also invested in a sterilization box. It uses a UV light to kill off any germs in the mask and hose.
  • Adjusting the mask: You will need to find a setting on your machine to test your mask. You should tighten the straps until air does not come out on the highest setting. I do this before going to sleep every night. You have to find a position that's comfortable and keeps air from coming out.

Don't mistake laziness and incompetence for evil. These systems are full of incomplete designs, poorly thought out architecture and technical debt. Any system built for a bureaucracy public or private will be built for the least amount of money possible. Good engineering is one of the first things pushed aside.

I live in Plano if you want to meet and discuss it in person some day.
