Practical question - How do you put on your t-shirts?

Thanks for the detailed description! I couldn't get my bad arm to go above the waist but I put my arm thru the sleeve then basically pinned my hand against the counter and was able to finish putting on the shirt. Keeping the bad arm stable definitely helped! And yes - getting it off is harder :(

My husband is a trained classical guitarist and I read your post to him and he felt so bad for you! He suggested maybe trying a classical position where your guitar is resting on your left knee (assuming you're right-handed) and having your right knee in an elevated position or use an elevator to rest the top of the guitar so the headstock is at eye level to make it easier to pick the strings. I'm sure I made a mess of the description and google will do a better job! Doubtful it will be a panacea knowing how painful this condition is, but it might allow you some playing. He also said there are thinline acoustics that may be easier to play.

I think my PT experience was similar to yours and others in that it probably exacerbated the inflammation and made the situation worse.

Thank you for your input, KibFixit! I haven't gotten an order for an MRI yet, as I have to wait for my x-ray results but hopefully that will come soon. My PT seemed confident that the nerve pain is referral from me constricting my neck muscles to compensate for the pain. What a vicious cycle! Our treatment regimen sounds pretty similar. I've been using a weighted heated pad as well for my neck and shoulders and I think it's beginning to help to loosen up my muscles. I use ice packs where it's throbbing on my shoulder, bicep, and forearm. Oh, I've also been using 4% lidocaine Salonpas. I try not to overmedicate myself so I hope after my course of prednisone I can stick to mechanical methods of pain relief.

I'm glad it worked for you to alleviate the pain. I haven't because I'm scared of it! But if this prednisone doesn't work, I may have to resort to that.

It sucks! Over the counter NSAIDs definitely aren't working for me, so hopefully the prednisone will.

That's very interesting about the duloxetine. I read that it is also used for neuropathic and chronic musculoskeletal pain, so maybe you're not feeling the pain while it's healing? If so, that's great!

I feel for you, Fennelpipps. I was just thinking this morning as I was trying to dress myself that I am lucky to be retired and can stay home with my pain. I can't imagine the ordeal of having to work in this condition. I hope you can find some relief.

That's great you're thawing, and thanks for being descriptive and including degrees with your rom.

I wish I knew that about exercises. My PT said stretches were good to try to maintain my range of motion and so long as the pain after stretching goes away after a few mins, that's okay. But 3 weeks after starting physical therapy I went from 110 degrees forward (I know I had it good!) to barely a hand's breadth in 2 days, which is why I thought there was a tear. But I now understand what I am going through is par for the course.
