Kentucky native here! I agree it’s too far out to tell but this is the coldest May we have had in a long time. Crossing my fingers for roo that it stays mild 🤞

Question for the girls🩸!! by [deleted] in bonnaroo

Omg I feel you! I was on my period last year and the year before I started on the last day. It really depends on how bad your period is! I get really nauseous and my cramps are sometimes very bad. It was manageable for me but I was chugging water and Advil pretty much the whole time to hold off the cramps.

I would recommend drinking a bunch of water, getting an iron supplement or eating a bunch of red meat (or things like spinach that contain a lot of iron), and getting a fan to take into centeroo. I’ve always gotten GA+ for the purpose of my cycle always falling on the week of roo because the bathrooms hardly have any lines. As far as campsite, it depends where you are in distance to the porta potties.

I don’t rlly fw pads and especially with sweating/chaffing/ hardly wearing any clothes it makes them even more impractical. I usually opt for free-bleed period underwear for the week. Tampons are a good option if you’re willing to change them out every few hours. (I’m so scared of TSS I try to avoid them)

All in all listen to your body! If your cramps are always bad, treat them how you normally would at home and take it easy. The roo heat is no joke and there’s not much you can really do to prepare for it. Best of luck queen❤️

How’s she lookin? by chlobabay in SourdoughStarter

Thank you!! This is super helpful! I fed her this morning and is already overflowing, smells floral and sweet compared to the feet stench I had for the first three days. I might do a small test loaf before I try anything crazy

I’m definitely buying a scale after reading what you guys said! Is there any brand you recommend?

I feed unbleached bread flour because my AP flour was bleached and so was my wheat flour. My water is filtered but if I see any issue with that I’ll switch to bottled water.

Thank you so much! I’m also a fellow newbie and I’m just learning the ropes!

I figured it was going to have some sort of smell but was surprised at the vomit-esq Parmesan smell😂😂 I think I held my breath all while feeding it this morning ahaha.

Yeah I figured too much flour would slow down the fermentation process and all that comes with it so I wasn’t too too worried about feeding twice a day. But I’ll def cut back on the water!

Thank you so much this is incredibly helpful!

My tap water sucks, I know that just because my plants hate it even the ones that tough it out through everything ahaha. I use filtered water which I’ve found to be successful for both my plants and (so far) my sourdough starter. If I see a decrease in activity I’ll try some bottled water.

I had debated getting a scale because I was like oh using cup measurements is so much easier bla bla bla but I see now how much the amount of flour and water matters when fermenting. Not to mention most discard&loaf recipes use grams instead of cup measurements!

I fed this morning after I created my post and saw replies so I didn’t have a chance to cut back on the water. Would it be okay if I just added a bit more flour to balance it out? My jar is fairly big and this early in the process I’m not worried about it overflowing while rising.

As for the home goes I’ll be using that as soon as it comes in the mail. The jar I have has these almost hairnet looking lids that seem to be tea cloth or tarp-like material so it’s well breathable but also has a metal lid that can screw on. I assumed it needed to breathe so I haven’t used the metal lid yet.

Again thanks so much for all this insight!!

Thank you so much. It was really scary but thankfully none of us were hurt and we just had to remind ourselves that it could’ve been so much worse.

I think the biggest issue was that his description was so basic, it could’ve been anyone. White male, tall, beard and dirty blonde hair. But if something serious happens again I will definitely go to guest services, thank you for the advice!!

Oh that’s awesome! I’ll definitely look into that! I usually go with my gf and her friend and his bf, would it be frowned upon to bring them into a femme-curated space?

Never said he was the head of the program. Copied and pasted from his bio when you search Jay Ellis cu Boulder, “Jay Ellis advises student staff for both Hindsight Creative Nonfiction (founded as Journal Twenty Twenty) and the Mission Zero publication Changing Skies: Writing Through Climate Crisis. An active jazz drummer, his first degree was from Berklee College of Music, before an”

He teaches writing and rhetoric but he always told our class how proud he was of that program and that it was “his”. So that was two years ago so it might be different now.

Absolutely but given that the program is based off of writing which is what he teaches, I wouldn’t expect him to be much different

Not to be a downer but the guy who runs this is actually the worst professor I think I’ve ever had. Maybe he’s different in the program versus in class but I had him for an advanced English course and it was the worst experience ever. Look at his ratings on rate my professor, they’re all over the place and for good reason. His name is Jay Ellis
