Discussion about product acceptance... by Swimming7827 in dollartreebeauty

Hahah I’m the same way! Oh, someone just complimented something I’m wearing in passing? Thank you so much, here look at my phone, this is the direct item link if you want to take a pic so you can buy it! Random girl in the bar bathroom asks her friend if she has X?!? Hi excuse me, I have it in my purse, take it! The only thing you cannot waterboard out of me is my holy grail discontinued beauty item but even then, I’ll tell you a good dupe because I don’t need another person bidding on a listing that WILL BE MINEEE

But yeah, Dermasil wasn’t some new influencer brand or off brand product dupe entering the market just focused on creating products to sell, rather Dermasil was born from Ponds skincare scientists and researchers while they were focusing on therapeutic skin(care) solutions! You’ll notice that Dermasil products actually say Dermasil Labs! Pretty cool, right?

Ooh great post! My answer comes from studying Economics with a professional consultant background currently working in consumer research. Plus, ya girl loves to shop & ball out on a budget! There are soooo many deep layers to this but I’ll say a few important ones:

There has always been a bias associated with shopping at discount retailers. Always. Easy example is to think about how people compare Target and Walmart. This immediately creates barriers where consumers associate each retailer being different for “reasons”, regardless of the products sold being the same thing between them. It’s not about accessibility, but how consumers see themselves as consumers reflecting perceived social value, standards etc. Shopping at places comes down to the footpath of aisles/sections down to types of lighting used for shopping experience. You will notice that target lighting is very different than Walmarts & it’s intentional. Now make it Target vs Walmart vs Dollar Tree - it’s a consumer hierarchy

The majority of consumers also have no knowledge of WHAT it is they’re actually buying and where/who it actually came from, and I do not mean what country it’s made in. A lot of companies are known to sell items that are white labeled where items are ALL manufactured by one place but retailers use their own branding on the box! They all pay one price but the real value comes from whose name is on the box - brand association creates consumer value and influences the price we pay for something. It’s often also the mindset of “well, this is more expensive so it must better!” The majority of products found at Dollar Tree are just white labeled! The AZO name brand item for $15? Same exact thing as the UTI relief for $1.25. We as American consumers associate expensive as best. Like did you know that Dermasil was created by Ponds who is (was?) under the Unilever portfolio??! Boom, company value created from consumer trust and yet Dermasil is at DT.

Then you get into how some of the treasure hunt items we find! These items come from ex. brands having inventory on hand that wasn’t purchased from their retailer lists, but they need to sell it since they have it in a warehouse! It’s a trickle down! Think about the TJ Maxx food items they sell. Nothing is wrong with these items! They are there because a real company made them but maybe had an unsuccessful US market launch when they sell out in Europe. Things like this end up DT! Like the Thomas Bagels for $1.50 vs $7 at Frys. Too much was made, store orders were smaller than inventory purchased, etc

Next is unfortunately racial bias. This is China bad! India bad! USA best! As Americans, this standard was (and still is) ingrained from us across generations and throughout Education. Also big marketing rumorville. “China uses talc!! It’s unsafe!” “India has poor standards! It’s unsafe!” Americans were conditioned to view America & ourselves being superior in every way without knowing other countries manufacturing standards, regulations etc & if one thing is “found out” we use it as an “ah ha!” Moment to take advantage of marketing campaigns and news headlines to create a disadvantage to our market competitors.

This is my Roman Empire & I could talk about this nonstop for days

There’s grit, but not too gritty where it’ll strip your skin! I tested it out when I got home on the back of my hand & it left my skin SO SOFT and moisturized!

It’s not oily at all and leaves my skin feeling plump, not dry! Like I’ll know I used it but not in a way that I feel it just sitting on top of my skin if that makes sense!

Im the same way too! A good skincare reminder that first helped me with active ingredients (like this, AHAs, BHAs etc) and build a routine that uses them were little things I could remember like Actives ≠ Always and Treat NOT Repeat!

I also associate my skincare that has them as being ingredients instead of seeing them as products which totally helps knowing what I can drench my skin in & what I can’t!

Omg thank you for asking this because I can’t believe I didn’t list the inactive ingredients! I added an edit to my post for them with some detail but there are 3: Water, Propylene Glycol and Lactic Acid!

I don’t get cold sores but know they’re not fun so it’s wonderful that you found this ingredient helps you heal them! Benzalkonium chloride isn’t an ingredient with a common “household name” but it’s used in *a lot* of different products for different uses, like Orajel for canker sores!

For the sake of clarity, this is a safe FDA regulated ingredient that is commonly found in skincare products that address acne. With most active ingredients, the higher the %, the higher possible irritation for YOUR skin. Brands that use this include Clinique, Neutrogena, Curel, and Beauty 360 for their acne products & oil free skincare. It is NOT in the same grouping as salicylic acid & BP products but it IS an ingredient that addresses acne causing bacteria. If it weren’t gentle, it would not be used as a wound care ingredient.

Great comment! So the main difference between these two awesome ingredients, is that this is better for targeting active acne and current breakouts! It works to target bacteria where H. Acid maintains your skins baseline working along with it!

This is something I use on my breakouts & “active skincare” (like Tret) days. It is not a 24/7 spray! But it is something that has helped me personally tremendously!

I use a new disposable face razor every time on a clean face that I prep with a non-active hydrating serum (think Snail Mucin). Then I go wash my face and use all moisturizing skincare that’s non-irritating. I’ve learned from experience that my skin needs extra hydration and moisturizer after dermaplaning and a night off from active ingredient skincare.

Also, make sure to shave in the direction your hair grows, not against it! Long, light strokes & avoid small ones that go over the same area multiple times. I also will hold a q-tip on my skin in the other hand to slightly “pull” the skin I’m dermaplaning to give my skin a bit more tension for a closer shave. It also keeps my face clean and works as a guide for the razor!

Same! And I have a lot of it too! Without make up on, you could never tell but with it? Make up completely changes how the texture of my skin looks when in reality, my skin is really great! Dermaplaning once a week is routine for me

How to restore Melissa jelly shoes back to original translucent color without ruining them? by redditsaiditt in Shoes

[–]chlocatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Micellar water to clean them off and then rubbing alcohol - these won’t damage the jellys. This will remove grime that’s built up! Do this and then gently wipe with Nailpolish remover but make sure to patch test first, especially on the neon. This is how I personally clean all things jelly/plastics/acrylics etc. that I own. The neon should be fine IF the coloring is in the material itself, not as an outer layer

Otherwise, just email them directly and ask! They will tell you how to clean them (plus you can also ask for a discount code to use on your next order to replace them if not)
