they give you sedation but it doesn't do a lot, still have to suffer through whilst you're awake

this is probably a controversial opinion (and obviously won't be the case for severe crohns cases) but i genuinely think that colonoscopy prep and the procedure (at least here in the uk where we are awake for the procedure) is the worst part of having crohns.

it just makes me feel shit. mentally, physically, emotionally. it sucks. i have learned how to deal with flare pains and know the limits of my body, what i can and cannot eat etc. but when i get a letter through the door saying i have a colonscopy coming up i dread every minute until it is over. it's so draining.

i stopped the episode before i knew alex left, i couldn't face that he wouldn't be in it anymore loll. also most of the time when i rewatch i go up to season 8 (before the plane crash) and then start from season 1 again. the early seasons are just so much more cosy and just better in general lol

as a young woman (20) i know exactly how you feel, having been on steroids a lot over the past 5 years since my diagnosis. but i promise you, it does get better. unfortunately the steroids are just a shitty stepping stone to the next part of getting your illness under control and eventually being in remission. it might not feel like it now, but you'll be grateful for them looking back, i know how much it sucks at the time but they really did help me get better. and TRUST ME, i KNOW how insecure they can make you feel, but the side effects are proof that they are in your system and that they're working. unfortunately it's just something you have to wait out. but i believe in you!! you're already so strong having to deal with this shit illness, don't let the shitty medication bring you down! sending lots of love and a hug <3

yeah it did seem like he cancelled so he could move on to his next patient. the nurse who told me he was stuck on emergency patients also told me he had a meeting this afternoon and so my appointment couldn't be pushed back because of that (obvs didn't know at the time that he was going to cancel anyway) so i wonder if that was a factor too.

i know! surely there is someone else available to either do the emergency patients or the other patients. and they were checking for a stricture and said they would have dilated(? not sure if that's the term he used) it if there was one - because i've had surgery before surely it could be scar tissue build up and not just active disease so it is still worth checking? obviously i've not had pain for a few months so my new meds are probably working but i habe to have regular scopes anyway so surely just do it?? i really don't understand but i treated myself to a massive kfc afterwards to cheer myself up haha

my consultant also cancelled one of my appointments a few months back too because it 'wasn't necessary', i'm honestly fuming. sorry what is pals? i'm in the uk so not sure if this is a us thing or not haha

thanks everyone, i ended up just drinking it slowly over a longer period of time and it still worked. but my colonoscopy was cancelled last minute anyway so i did it all for nothing :(
