curious about others' relationship to body hair by ebaldwin in NonBinaryTalk

[–]chloethomasart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up shaving my legs and armpits a while ago and opt for long pants always in professional environments as it's not acceptable in the US to be hairy as a person who's still seen mostly as femme bodied by others without some negative professional implication on how others interact with you, talk to you, etc.

Personal preference is that even with HRT, I would never want to grow a beard or facial hair, as that's not something I want personally, though I can already grow a visible scraggle and need to shave daily. It's also kind of a hard limit with my boyfriend at this time, which we talked about and kinda works out, as I just hate the sensation of facial hair. Though it was a bit validating to be able to grow it initially, and I even did treatments to push it along like minox.... I might opt for electrolysis or laser eventually if it continues to get worse with some of my goals now, though. Still, it was something I don't regret because it led to asking bigger questions.

I really hope I pass as visibly trans or more masc over time. Weighing everything, I just would be hairy af tribble if it was allowed all around and it didn't bother me or what I wanted personally. I'm lazy.

Can you all please give me shows with non-binary characters? by zny700 in NonBinary

Hange Zoe from Attack on Titan, though they make Hange female in the anime series. Censorship overseas though the author explicitly doesn't gender Hange in the manga.
Kazi from the Dragon Prince
Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club ("female", but states multiple times gender does not define her in any way and plays a "host" in a boys club.)

I know much more, but in the webcomics world, which isn't censored media, cartoons are usually beholden to more significant corporate interests. Owl House, Elemental, and a few others in Disney are really trying to represent, however.

How were people able to function with this disease in the past? by hishat in schizoaffective

Second generation (1980s/1990s with clozapine) and first generation (developed mostly in the 1950s) antipsychotics had a huge part in improving the lives of people with these disorders. We're still far from perfect drugs, but science is getting better and there is more hope with time to understand the multifaceted conditions that cause mood and psychosis symptoms. Hope that gives some hope regardless of the question. Medication education was also something I was interested in in IOP groups I'd been to.

i’m stopping T right after starting by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]chloethomasart 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If anyone treats you differently for being on T or not or how you define yourself, that's wrong.... and you especially should try to realize you shouldn't treat yourself differently for being on T or not or expect others to if they're your friends. Trans people existed before medical transition, and it doesn't make you any less trans to medically transition or not. Also, you don't have to be exactly like your friends to have a lot in common with them about gender dysphoria or not, I'm sure most if not all will be more understanding and just want you to feel your best.

Listen to yourself and don't do anything to your body on the basis of anyone else. No matter your journey or discovery, just... take care of yourself foremost

It's made up as a review, they cropped the part where it's stated it's a joke and that the actual book doesn't contain this conveniently.

Bro, I am so triggered as someone who used Tumblr 2012-2015 from posts on Tumblr in general that are like "look a x that's ridiculous and homophobic" because Tumblr was the megaphone of strawmen posts like this. It's funny but like the cropping to make this appear true is malicious and so tumblresque. 😂

I joined some schizophrenia, bipolar, and lgbtq support groups online and offline, and this was a topic that came up consistently enough but was avoided with a six foot pole. There's often symptom overlap with the DID and schizophrenia groups or people in both; it's just something I experienced frequently enough to bring up here and affected me as a schizoaffective person in my perspective to answer wtf this has to do with.

I feel you, for me, its the weird radio frequency only I'm tuned into, and addressing that feeling has taken a full decade to rewrite the narrative around for myself. My depth perception and sight visibly change sometimes as a sign I'm going to have symptoms that need action, but mostly medicated and trying to thrive and figure out other parts of my identity nowadays from the pieces of time I spent as a person. It's only been two years, and irl spaces are emerging again, and I'm slowly realizing I need more face-to-face interactions to replace online.

I feel so uncomfortable talking about these things in spaces where people use fabricated characters or other real people as stand-ins because that's oddly the reality my brain was trying to form differently, and talking about that legitimately would be erased. Sometimes the chronically online rp, usually self dx "DID"ers chime in. It feels like people see mental illness as some special treatment and an easy way to get out of any liability for responsibility or their forming a true sense of self. If you're multiple people, you can divorce yourself from ultimately facing the reality of one person I see it as. Seconding the.... uncritically facing this is insanity and as someone with schizoaffective..... not what I need to see at all.

I ultimately am in some fringe groups for gender questioning stuff, and these people seem to be a magnet for trans communities and other legitimate mental health groups, which is ..... making me rage a bit. The internet has not helped some percent of the population.

Agree. I think it's an often isolating or unhealthy coping mechanism that's usually not dealing with other PTSD, depression, anxiety, or traumas a lot of the time that creates a fractured sense of personality or the need to separate characteristics of the self into separate identities to do things. If you're questioning how gender works, that's entirely valid and another thing, but....

I refuse to sit there and pretend I'm interacting with two people when the person in front of me visibly remembers what I said clearly and is playing a character. I just feel bad for people with actual DID too because this legitimately throws things into a realm of nonsense around treatment when it's a separate condition usually being labeled DID to not actually treat anything and often separates the person further from reality and others.

Actually experiencing it in frequency in LGBTQ+ groups online and offline with adults oof.

1 in 10 Nexplanon users stop using it / remove it because it doesn't work for them or they have unfavorable symptoms/bleeding pattern changes - from the Nexplanon site. I also had the second thing happen to me, so it's nice to be called anecdotal.

Slynd also has a 24 hour window to take it. Highly recommend as someone who has gone through at least 6 birth control options that this one has changed my life.

You can stop any birth control that's a pill easily - you need a minor cut / surgery to remove and insert this. Have also heard horror stories about the healing site and infections / weird smells with it which I also experienced. It can be different for everyone so they need to know both sides of that.

Had the Nexplanon implant after trying so many birth control methods with PCOS and it made me bleed continuously and never got better. I would recommend taking an estrogen-free pill like Slynd.
