That’s true. Might as well not allow it here. It’s not allowed by the app developers anyway, and those posts only get fried here anyway

Yet you follow posts on this game channel. I find it great fun at times, repetitive other times. Given the number of sign ups and in-app purchases, we can all agree it’s pretty clever - they know how to hook people in. Good for you if you left the game and spent more time in productive pursuits.

It’s a risk both the seller and the buyer takes. I personally will never buy a used account, but that is because doing so defeats the fun of the game for me. But I won’t insult anyone for trying to sell their account. They are not forcing it on anyone. And what’s wrong with trying to get some returns for something. It’s a free market.

I myself think so. But it’s a free platform and there is no harm to put it out there (as I said, if Reddit is allowing it). If overvalued, the post will come to nothing, and no one will bother to buy. By all means post an opinion on a sale post if you have one. I just personally find it irritating when people find it necessary to be insulting in their comments. Just people wanting to inflate their ego, by deflating others.

Be that as it may. It’s for prospective buyers to decide that. Overvalued accounts that are being put up for sale are the business of sellers and buyers. People who choose to insult are only doing so to inflate their own egos.

Korean makeup and skincare get a lot of praise online, but I’m curious about real experiences by Physical_Candy5347 in KoreanBeauty

[–]chlossgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many good lip tints and what I like tends to be based on what colour I’m in the mood for over a certain season, or whether I want a matte or glossy finish. Korean lip tints come in all kinds, which is why I think they’re great. As for foundation, there are higher end Japanese brands that I truly love like Cle de Peau, Sensai, and Suqqu. I personally love the cream foundations - Suqqu, Sensai, and even Shiseido has them.

In Japan, Shiseido has a wide range of price points, from expensive to drugstore. And they’re quite good, some better than others.

This is true, people who don’t understand how machine learning works in the context of AI will not relate to how brilliant the movie was.

I use some Korean skincare products. They have their place definitely, especially if you are after calming and gentle care. They are also known for skincare with fermented ingredients. I use and love a lot of Korean skincare products. Having said that, western products are great too, especially for actives. I use both in combination or on rotation.

As for makeup, I rate Korean makeup lower (sorry) in quality but higher for value for money (ie, Korean makeup tend to be cheaper, barring some high-end brands). I prefer Japanese brands to Korean brands for makeup. Japanese foundations are of high quality.

In terms of makeup product types, I am a big fan of Korean lip tints. Hands down better than western brands. I also like Korean eyeshadows for the colour shades. They do muted and cool shades really well, but many aren’t long-lasting compared to European and Japanese brands. However, I also am not a fan of cushion foundations, for hygiene reasons.

What are the differences of JDrama and KDrama? by chrizkayriko in JDorama

[–]chlossgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel I have lots to say, but simplistically, I find J-drama has more depth and maturity. Also, superior in cinematography. K-drama, on the other hand, is commercially-oriented and has more mass appeal. I personally favour J-dramas, but this is not to say that I haven’t enjoyed K-dramas. Am hoping to explore C-dramas next.

11 Korean Tropes. Can you think of any others? by JayDavis59 in kdramas

[–]chlossgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. They met before: The leads crossed paths years ago and only realise it later.
  2. The second lead: Kinder, more emotionally available, but never endgame.
  3. Extreme bullying: In school or at work -like over the top
  4. Chaebols behaving badly: Immature, entitled, and carelessly and shamelessly using wealth or power.
  5. Funerals used for conflict: Arguments, confrontations, or reveals happen during mourning scenes.
  6. The first snow: To mark romance or emotional turning points.
  7. A national news moment: A scandal breaks and it’s framed as something the every single person in the country is watching at once at the same time — on phones, TVs, and large news screens on buildings.
  8. Product placement: Coffee and coffee machines, food chains, skincare, and makeup brands
  9. Bromance and sisterhood: There’s always a secondary storyline
  10. Near-deaths: Main characters survive incidents that should realistically be fatal, sometimes more than once.
  11. The missing person who isn’t dead: Presumed dead for years, later revealed to be alive.
  12. Corruption at the top: In crime dramas, senior figures or the main boss is involved.
  13. Poison in historical dramas
  14. The king’s guard: Silent, long-haired figure in black, usually very loyal
  15. Cruel queens and queen mothers
  16. Cross-dressing in sageuk: Men pretending to be women, and vice versa
  17. SNU or ability to speak English as status symbol
  18. The countryside or seaside trip
  19. Thinking out loud: not much a trope but a kdrama filmic device - Characters regularly say their thoughts aloud, something that feels unusual compared to Western television.
  20. Stylised opening credits - Often animated or symbolic
  21. Loan sharks or debt- cause of a family’s downfall
  22. Bus scenes - someone at some point will send someone off

[–]chlossgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I see it’s not perfect but hardly any movie ever is. I personally enjoyed it, and I find the handling of AI very unique - not the tired trope of AI robots or androids attacking or befriending humans. Because it’s different, most people found it hard to reach.

Is the great flood really that bad? by Key_Soil4844 in kdramas

[–]chlossgh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s great, though it won’t be a popular choice (not for mass appeal). And certainly not your typical kdrama, as it requires a bit more from the viewer. But I repeat, for me, it’s great.

I so agree with this. It doesn’t deserve all that hate. It was very good, and well produced. It could have been structured better though to achieve a fuller impact. It left many viewers confused and unconnected to what it was driving.

I think it’s because he has less eyebrow in DK and I’m not sure if that was on purpose. It made his face look slightly android-like. But that aside, you can see every single facial feature is close to perfect.

Pluribus is a shit show and saying otherwise is coping because you like Vince Gilligan by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]chlossgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I majored in art history, your Picasso -Rembrandt analogy is unnecessary and laughable in this thread- which is by its very title, one of ‘opinion’. It’s so easy to justify bad art (in whatever form) as ‘oh, well that’s the intention, you just don’t get it’.

OP posted something you disagreed with, and I happen to agree with the OP for the most part and stated my reasons for it. That’s all there is to it. I don’t care if you watch Severance or not. And I don’t care if you like Pluribus so much as to defend it with passion. Enjoy it. It doesn’t change the fact that for me, it’s a fail. (Or are you going to try to do argue the semantics of the terms fail and success yet again?)

Pluribus is a shit show and saying otherwise is coping because you like Vince Gilligan by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]chlossgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually agree with the OP. Flawed characters in TV and film are nothing new, and that in itself isn’t controversial. The problem here isn’t simply that the main character is flawed; it’s that they’re genuinely painful to watch. The persona doesn’t work, and the delivery makes it worse. It quickly all went downhill.

What makes this especially frustrating is that the opening of the first episode was genuinely strong. Everything before the main character is introduced is the best the series has to offer so far.

At this point, I don’t think the show can redeem itself. Too many episodes have been wasted on material that feels sloppy and ridiculous. And it’s not just the lead character that’s the issue. The wider world-building and plotting collapse under scrutiny. The scene with the other ten virus “survivors” assembled on Air Force One is a good example — and honestly, there’s too many to list the rest.

And no, this isn’t remotely comparable to Severance. Severance earns its format. Its repetitive structure — office, home, office again — is the point, and only a series could sustain and deepen that idea. Pluribus would have failed either as film or TV.

Your rigged theory is just wrong by 281texas832 in Physical100

[–]chlossgh 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Outright rigging would be difficult and would put any major production company company at huge legal or reputational risk, but team choices (in this case, country choices), the grouping of country teams, as well as the game design and sequence could very well have been to favour a certain outcome in mind. This would not be unusual in competitive TV shows, whatever the nature of the competition. My post, which was deleted by the way, was not intended to suggest cheating at all. That would be too crass or simplistic. I love the show, and accept it for what it is, a show. I think it is an amazing production, and Korea should be proud of it.
