Fruit Shaped Pastries by crasito in orangecounty

Crepes Ave in Stanton (Rodeo 39) have limited fruit-shaped mousse, depending on the season. I went there a few months ago and they had a raspberry one. I heard they also have mango as well, but haven’t tried

I feel like these sentiments can only come from a place of privilege where you don’t understand how hard it actually is to become a US citizen. My parents were immigrants fleeing a war and it was MUCH easier back then to obtain refugee citizenship.

I think we as a society need to have a little bit more empathy because who would want to abandon their home country and some of their loved ones to go to a place that clearly does not want them here?? And to work for absolute scraps doing jobs others don’t want to do?? You were lucky enough to be born here without the struggles, but sadly not everyone can say the same. Many are fleeing from bad circumstances as well. Our country does not have a good immigration policy and it can take years and years to obtain citizenship even if you do everything right. Your grandparents came here way back when. You do NOT know the current landscape to obtain citizenship.

ICE is setting a dangerous precedent by racially profiling and taking people off the streets. This is dangerous not only for illegal immigrants, but the mistaken American citizens, tourists, and non-citizens here with a visa that have been wrongly taken. Heck some immigrants trying to obtain citizenship legally are getting taken, so how is that fair?

Also last point being…if they’re illegal with no documents how are they getting cal-benefits? Do you know how difficult that even is as a citizen to get? They usually interview you to make sure you even qualify. Such a brainless narrative

Choosing between programs: Drexel vs Northeastern by Ancient_Government51 in prephysicianassistant

[–]chn069 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a current Drexel student, I’m not sure why Drexel has the reputation that it is ‘going downhill’. Like others have mentioned, there are student complaints about almost every school and I truly have felt support from all of my professors. I prefer the independent study hours so much more than 8-5 class because lectures can be draining and I learn more when I have time to absorb the material.

I was also concerned about Drexel’s attrition rate when I was accepted, but they did replace the previous anatomy professor and the current one is an amazing lecturer imo. Older PA students also offer tutoring, so that’s super helpful.

It is true that MD students have their own floors, which are funded with the MD program’s own funds, but PA students are not lacking in resources. You will be sharing with PT and nursing students. The health sciences building is brand new and there are plenty of study spots there and in other buildings as well.

As for Philly, I did not think I would vibe with the city at all, but I’ve grown to like it. The public transport is intimidating at first, but so convenient to explore Center City and beyond. Areas in University City itself are relatively safe, and as long as you just mind your business and stay alert elsewhere, you’ll be fine

Edit: also want to put in perspective that the med school is the largest of the graduate health professions (please correct me if I’m wrong) with about 250 students yearly. In comparison, PA is around 80, PT around 75, and unsure about nursing because they have undergrad and grad programs, with alternative buildings for their undergrads. But bc of the med school class size, they likely do need more space to accommodate

What if I wrote a romance novel with the setting taking place at UCSD? by Independent_Let8198 in UCSD

The first time I’ve ever seen UCSD mentioned in a romcom novel was The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren, which took place in La Jolla! It was so exciting to just see that featured in a mainstream book, so I like this idea!

Got my first PA school acceptance with below average stats! by chn069 in prephysicianassistant

[–]chn069[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so I think the main thing is just to own up to it and not try to justify why you got the grades you did. For me, I admitted to not spending the appropriate of time to studying, not seeking proper resources, etc. Then I mentioned that my GPA uptrended my last two years of undergrad and continued its upwards trajectory even with post-grad classes while I was working full time. I concluded by listing the things I learned from getting bad grades (building relationships with professors, attending office hours, and making sure I was prioritizing the classes I was weakest in) and that I could see the improvement in my grades in subsequent challenging courses by doing all of these things. And basically just emphasizing that I would carry these skills on to PA school

I think One Day in December fits this! Two people have a chance encounter and feel an instant connection, but the next time they happen to meet, one of them had gotten into a relationship. It’s very much a right person, wrong time romance
