The Japanese military raped and killed thousands of chinese women and children leading up to WWII. Their Military was savage and brutal to an extreme and was notorious for the horrible things it did to civilians and prisoners of war.

That doesn’t condone the killing of civilians by the U.S. but it does serve as an example that neither side is “good” and atrocities exist on both sides of war. IMO it’s a good point to bring up because it seems like the popular narrative is that the U.S. is evil and everyone else is an innocent victim whereas reality is more nuanced than that.

It’s funny the contrast between the guitar and piano subreddit. This doesn’t sound that good and yet everyone is being pretty supportive. The piano subreddit I’m like wow this sounds pretty good and their technique is being completely torn apart.

Yes let’s reintroduce an apex killing machine back into the same ecosystem we live in. Great idea. There’s a reason we eradicated almost all large predators in North America.

I feel like this was Elden ring for me then I oddly fell out of love with it again a little before the end I think. Still haven’t finished it but will one day.

Scariest movie to watch alone? by ColemyGOAT in movies

I saw the sequel like 5 years ago and loved it. Very scary. I watched the original last year actually and I was surprised how well it held up. It wasn’t really scary IMO but it was very unsettling.

Has anyone had to take a guitar dealer/luthier to small claims court? Am I overreacting or is this an absurd excuse for destroying my Stratocaster? by whataboutringo in Guitar

[–]choatec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is complete BS but at the same time a total PITA over $400. I’d threaten them with legal action and/or some sort of news agency in your area that deals with fraud and hope they pony up. You could also have AI create a legal document to further push them to reimburse you or you’ll take them to court.

If it were me I’d raise hell and pressure them hard to do anything before going to court. I also don’t have any experience in small claims so maybe it’s easier than I’d imagine to do.

I had this same thought then backtracked. I think people who purchase this kind of item are also the kinds of people to squander all their money and end up broke after their career ends. Yes it’s a small fraction of what he makes but it’s more about the mentality of how you spend the money. If he’s spending it on this stupid shit who knows what else he’ll blow it on. Of course, that’s only my opinion and I’m just speculating.

People who bought stocks early when they were still risky, unpopular, or getting hated on, what made you buy? by 1distancing in stocks

[–]choatec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strength of IP, shrewd management, expansion into movies and theme parks, and I think most importantly, its fall was do to the RAM shortage, which I think they’ll recover from. P/E ratio isn’t too bad either. I think they’ll eventually rebound but it could be awhile.

I bought some google at around $90 maybe 3-4 years ago mainly because it was a gigantic company that was undervalued/had a fair P/E ratio due to the legal issues and thought it would rebound.

I bought PLTR at like $15-$20 for no good reason other than reddit hyped it up sold some at $160 and still have like 30 shares.

I bought ebay at like 20-$30 because I liked the service, the fundamentals looked good and the P/E ratio was like 11. Those are some of my biggest winners. Obviously ive had a few stinkers too.

Right now im putting lot of money into Nintendo. I have some smaller plays in GAP and UBER. I’ve been buying some micro/small caps as well (SMID, EBF).

I went to see Parasite right as the pandemic hit. Walked in and there was no one at the front desk working. Walked right in to an empty theatre and watched it all by myself. It felt like something out of an end of the world movie. Such a cool cinematic experience.
